I just came from this screening. Regret to say i didn't share it on this page prob owing to fatigue.

The 94 minute documentary featured afterward had a good 20 or so minute segment on the SOUNDTRACK of FLASH GORDON with interviews of HOWARD BLAKE *and about 12 focused on QUEEN /featuring interview with BRIAN MAY.

Brian explained a bit on his involvement and the initial rejection of flashs theme by Dino DeLaurentis.

He also recreated the theme on piano solo. Which was very cool.... extra emphasis on the the "thunder" sound he made on piano with emphasis that the music video cut to Roger instead for the crashes instead of him on piano. ... "so this is the first time you've seen this part performed ever"
;)

Pretty cool.

Flash (Sam Jones) and Dale Arden (Melody Anderson) have a brief Q & A as well as signing autographs.

No word on future release of the doc. Geez i should've asked THAT question instead of asking Melody "what was THE DRINK THAT HAS NO NAME really called? "
Apparently tonight was the west coast premiere. Director Lisa Downs also answered quite a bit of Q&A.

Sam is the primary subject of the doc but it featured quite a bit of archival footage as well as a bunch of quips from recent times from tons of ppl.

Takeaways:
Dale was supposed to be a strange creature in one of FLASH 's hallucinations. It made it all the way to her hours in weird makeup with prosthetic teeth n all. But decided against at the very last minute.

KLYTUS is hilarious
BRIAN BLESSED is BEYOND hilarious. (*apparently the director had 2 hours of an interview with him that was extensive and constant. I hope that gets a release)
There has been recent interest in a new adaptation. ..reboot? Remake? Sequel? I dunno. ...just a running theme in "development"

Oddly enough. No Seth MacFarlane specifically for this release. ...neither wahlberg...which may lose some of that boogie nights lustre in your eyes.

Har har.

Cool stuff! I suppose this will be released on disc at some point, I'd love to watch it.

Surprised Brian hasn’t publicised this (or has he and I’ve missed it??)

Probably doesn't want to detract from the BR movie. Confuse da kidz
Well^^ maybe he knows the project was mired in difficulties. There are versions of the "FLASH" storysaying that much of it was just winged on the spot.

Things and statements in the film from others corroborate that. For instance FLASH jumping into YEAH! Was Sam J Jones' idea and I'm not certain i remember correctly but the "Football Fight" was improvised on the spot from Topol's or someone's statement that one of the fabrege eggs looked like a football maybe we should do something with that.

Melody said "well, and Dale, being a city gal would just encourage him on, so i came with "Go flash Go!"
There's a story that she wasn't even hired until days before shooting began.
THAT wasn't addressed enough in the doc. Nor were the complete reasons addressed why Sam had a falling out with Delaurentis other than he tookI ill advised suggestions from his own management.

Also there's no CONCLUSIVE evidence from stage sheets 40 years ago to provide a FACTUAL knowledge of who actual OVERDUBBED Sam's lines in ADR- since he was fired before he was able to record em.

Those are a few gaps; though producer/director and Peter Wyndgarde apparently both have a general idea who it was. (Peter saying he could not remember but that it was a Canadian actor who did those puppet funds THUNDERBIRDS)

Maybe because it was mired with problems he's not endorsing it much, though he did give his time. Or perhaps he's not even seen the finished product since he's been touring for some time. The director had said it took 2 years to get the interview with Brian

This has made me download the Flash Gordon game app again. See if I'm still top of the world table after 2 years.
Great!
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.
