So far the soundtrack is doing well in the charts. I'm hoping it will climb another two places to number one.

It's really nice to see some new albums making a reappearance in the charts (A Night At The Opera and Live At Wembley Stadium). It'll be nice to see others.
I know a lot of you will be angry at me for saying that I wish Queen had a 3 disc compilation featuring ALL of their singles. It seems a shame that The Platinum Collection contains some utter nonsense from Wyclef Jean and others instead of songs like Tie Your Mother Down (which was a top 20 hit in 1998 as it was released as a double a-sided single with No-One But You) and minor hits like Spread Your Wings and Love Of My Life (Live in Frankfurt 1979).
How about on Greatest Hits III instead of The Show Must Go On, Under Pressure, Barcelona, Somebody To Love, Driven By You, Living On My Own, The Great Pretender, Princes Of The Universe (despite it's a Queen song, it's unheard of in the UK as it was never a single) and Another One Bites The Dust you could have Keep Yourself Alive, Tie Your Mother Down, Spread Your Wings, Love Of My Life (Live In Frankfurt 1979), Body Language, Back Chat, Scandal and A Winter's Tale. Replacing those and including these will mean including all fifty of their singles because it's a nice round number and plus it doesn't repeat any songs).
In fact instead of the the three discs representing each Greatest Hits album you could redo each disc and have the songs in chronological order. For the music fan that will best show the band's development. Who agrees?
Why do you want it to rise to number 1? Serious question?
Nice to see it available on cassette. £15 tho. Skip.

If it reaches number one it will be their tenth number one. That will be incredible their first since Made In Heaven in 1995.
I wonder if they'll think 'wow - there's a market for live versions and new tracks' or will just assume it's because the hits are on there? If number one means they'll do some more archival releases, bring it on :)

It's a really good soundtrack it's not a compilation album. Half of its content is material we've never heard in CD context and in not so good quality. The fact is because it's successful people in the cinema would've watched the film and liked the music in the it. So they will go to HMV (or an other shop or maybe online) and listen to it perhaps on their way home.
Now I've seen it, I think it would've been better if they'd left off a couple of hit that were only used briefly (Under Pressure for example) that are easily available elsewhere and included, say, Super Freak and a couple of the opera tunes featured to make it a more rounded collection of 'exclusive' tracks. This would encourage sales of GH for the hits and made it more necessary for other fans to buy to own these other songs. But then of course it would be a 'various artist' soundtrack release and probably not got the marketing budget.
I'm still thinking about the cassette version :)
BTW I noticed Platinum Collection is just the 3 GH CDs in a slipcase rather than the previous fat jewel case. I guess you get more for your money like this, but I liked the old fat box version.

It's good for your money at the moment because to buy the first Greatest Hits album it's £10.99! It only used to be £5.99! The Platinum Collection is good for your money I suppose because it's only £4.33 per CD. It's just a shame that they haven't done a new 3 disc compilation featuring all their 50 singles.
I had totally forgotten about Super Freak being in the movie until someone mentioned above. I think it was a bit odd but I guess you couldn't put a Queen song there since Freddie wouldn't listen to, say, Body Language in his own party.
It's probably quite cheap to license too
Number 22 in States. Best entry since Greatest Hits Peaked at 11 after Freddie's death.
In The Netherlands down 20 to number 45 in its second week.
Why do people ignore Queen's 80's and 90's tracks? Terrible.
I think you answered your own question there
