Freddie said that he prefers "Somebody to love" rather than "Bohemian Rhapsody as it is a much better constructed song and i have to agree. The song has a much better guitar solo from Brian and i adore Freddie's vocals on this track. What do you serious Queen fans think?

Bo Rhap Is their masterpiece, and when first released Somebody To Love was probably In the shadow of the masterpiece...Somebody To Love has aged really well, and many fans consider It their favorite Queen Song....Both are great, personally Love Of My Life Is right up there for me as well. The 3 songs are equally great for me.

If Freddie said it, you obviously agree. If he had said Delilah was his favourite, that would be yours.
Both are very strong tracks with exquisite vocals, harmonies and instrumentals. The guitar solos on both are phenomenal, but neither are as good as "The March of the Black Queen" imo, and "Love of My Life" is definitely up there.

Freddie said he prefers 'Somebody To Love' from the lyrical point of view only. I think you refer to the interview with Molly Meldrum in 1977. Both songs are incredibly good. Not only wonderfully composed but also executed. And they are accompanied by wonderful promo clips. I'm sure it was much easier to write and work on 'Somebody Yo Love'. It was said that Freddie couldn't finish 3 different songs in 1975 so he put them together. I don't know which is better. It can't be measured, but it doesn't really matter. Both songs are top level. Just like Love Of My Life and The Millionaire Waltz.

You have to admit though Freddie's vocals on "somebody to love" are truly amazing and he gives it his all on that track. It should have been a number one smash in the UK and not number 2.

Queen have so many #2 hits In the UK...Killer Queen also peaked at 2.

Yeah i feel Queen were robbed in the Uk charts with so many brilliant singles they had released which only made number 2.

Of course Freddie wrote both songs and arguably he was the most consistent song writer in Queen and got the band to be a household name and favourite especially in the 1970s.
"Somebody to Love" (1976) had harmonies like "Man from Manhattan" and i loved Queen back then for those types of harmonies and blistering guitar riffs from May.

let's not make this a competition between band members again...I must say It gets annoying after a while. They were all great songwriters.

Without a definition of the word 'better' there is no answer...

I'd consider 'Bo Rhap' to be better because of the fanfare section.

I believe he said that right after the release of A day at the races. Seems more like a promotional comment. Also it doesn't really matter.

Close. Oh so very close. Not quite better IMO.
I do love both songs. And rightly so, both songs are classics.
