How did people FORCE It’s Late and Spread Your Wings off of the set list?
Easy. Because most bands don't want to look at blank faces not knowing the songs.
They dropped the tunes in 1980 for the same reason they dropped them now - because they're a hits band, not an albums band. At that time they realized their audience was changing, and came to the realization that endures until now, that most people don't know the album tracks.
Greatest Hits went 8x platinum in the US, while their next best selling albums are NOTW and The Game at 4x platinum each. In the UK, Greatest Hits went 20x platinum, while the next best selling album is Made In Heaven at 4x platinum.
This is why 90% of their setlist is hits. They're not going to play too many tunes that half the audience doesn't know.

This is why I wish AL and casual music fans who go to Q+AL concerts fans would at least dig deeper in the Queen catalogue, because there are some hidden gems in there. I was shocked when IP and SYW was added, and I ended up liking it, and was sad when it was dropped so fast.
All Adam fans, that I know, LOVED the addition of SYW and IL. They were as disappointed by QAL dropping them than the Queen fans. You can read it on all the Adam forums. I’ve never heard anything else but disappointment about that.
We might not have known them before, but that doesn’t mean, we can appreciate these songs VERY fast and sing along. The people not appreciating them were casual concert goers.
Glamberts love to hear Adam sing -and these songs were absolutely gems in the set! No Glamberts runs for the restroom, when Adam sings a ballad. ;)
That's good to know.
Do AL fans run to bathroom when Brian does his guitar solo? Joking there, honest as it's a running joke that even Queen fans run for the restroom during the solo.
I never run to a restroom during a show, if I can help it. And since I try to stand as close to the stage as possible, I won’t risk to loose my place. The only people leaving, that I remember, where middle aged men, who ran for a beer. ;)
Do you try to stand for the full show? That's something I don't think I could manage.
Men and their beer, right ;-).
I usually buy a standing ticket, so yes, I stand for the whole show and more. I always try to get to a venue around 5 pm. There I meet up with friends or other fans and wait for the doors to open. Then I choose a nice spot to stand. Depending on the artist, you can even get to the front. I managed to do that at my last QAL show. The doors opened about two hours before the concert. Then I had to wait on that spot, where an older lady and some very young Brian fangirls were always pushing from behind. My friend and I would have never made it back, had we left.
But it’s all worth it! I had an incredible experience! I even managed to get a handshake from Adam and was only about 2-3 meters away from the band for long stretches of the concert, while I had a great view. :)
That's impressive. I'm glad you had an incredible experience.Happy for you.

Thanks! It really was one of the best concerts I‘ve seen so far! The visuals and the sound were outstanding! The band has gelled so well and they had as much fun as we fans.
And the companionship between fans was so great! It’s unusual, that there are so many different kinds of fans, waiting very early. There are all these older rock guys (and a few women), then all the younger fans in the twenties and thirties. All sitting and standing there for hours. (I mean, I had been there rather late. Some Glamberts had been there since 6am.) I talked to many fans in front of and in the venue. In front of me were two male Queen fans in their 60s, who travelled 8 hours to the venue. They told us, that they do one concert at every tour since 1975. And every time one of them buys a T-Shirt and wears it at the next concert. :)
Behind us in the venue we’re these two very young Brian fans, of about 20 years. I‘m still laughing about the girl. It was so funny: When Brian‘s guitar tech placed his guitars beside the catwalk to the B-stage in front of us, she said out of pure joy: „I want to lick the strings!!“ My friend and I exchanged a disgusted look, but smiled away. Believe me: That girl was screaming very wildly, everytime Brian came close.
At some time it really got annoying, because my ears kept ringing. :D
All the fighting, that you can read on this forum, simply didn‘t exist at the concerts, I attended. It’s such a great coming together of all kinds of fans! The Queen fans are happily giving high fives to Adam. The Glamberts are wholeheartedly singing Love of my Life with Brian.

....then there are those who are real queen fans and hate this cabaret act. The better option than seeing those two clowns embarrassing themselves

And then there's runner who lives in some alternate universe where reality isn't allowed in.

Your opinion doesn’t matter. Sorry.
In the whole scheme, there are very few people, who feel like you. I know „real“ Queen fans. I live with two, I met others, I talked for hours to them. And you know what: All these Queen fans are very different in their views. But none was as thickheaded and ignorant as you. You are a Queen fan, who acts like a toddler, who doesn’t get enough attention, while he’s throwing a tantrum. So he cries louder and louder on every thread.
Thankfully most Queen fans are sensible music enthusiasts.
I actually feel pity for you. A grown up man feels the need to post all that negativity, often insulting, post after post on this thread (and others). You must be obsessed with your view of the topic and that so many fans simply don‘t share it. You will never be able to turn back the clock.
You should be old enough to understand and accept, that other people have different opinions. I‘m happy about QAL. And nothing you post here will change that. I will from now on go back to ignore your comments. Good night. And sorry , that I‘m happy! :D

I'm old enough to have seen the original Queen live a couple of times and before I go on I want to make one thing perfectly clear, Paul Rodgers is a rock legend. However, having said that, Adam Lambert is a much better fit. Rodgers was not the best fit for the band and a lot of his vocals had to be tuned down and the album they put out was a disaster. Lambert's voice and personality suits Queen much better

I don't know why Brian and Roger really want to carry on touring,it can't possibly be for the money they are both absolutely minted.i went to see Queen with AL at Birmingham ,the arena is a pig to get to in the middle of Birmingham.I was embarrsed by what I saw, quite frankly it was awfull.I bought Queen 1 when I was 10 years old and fell in love with the band.I went with a friend who thought it was great ,it made things worse.Brian and Roger have made a real balls up of things since the passing of Freddie. The reason QPR folded was tension between Paul and Brian.

Probably because of AL's on-stage personality which has more energetic-queer vibe compares to PR's, it suites Queen's songs more

You're right they don't need the money but they love playing live and are having fun and the majority of the audience are as well. Sorry it wasn't for you but lots are loving it and it's bringing new fans so I'd hardly call it a balls up.

I'm sure they love to tour. I don't doubt that for a second.
Now, why the tour with AL, for years some people have labelled AL as the next Mercury, Bowie etc. I remember reading such things even on AL's Idol days. I didn't think of AL as that back then, nor do I think it now, just for the record.
AL had a following from Idol, which the show was a pretty big deal in the States for at least a few years.
I think AL was more easily moldable than someone like PR who was been in the music business for years.

I don't think how long you have been in business or how old you are necessarily means you are more moldable. Adam is pretty stubborn from all I have read and some of his gaffes have come from the fact that he doesn't allow people to dictate to him It might have been better in hindsight had he listened, but that is water under the bridge. He has walked away from record labels because he was not going to do what they wanted. He also wasn't a kid when he started touringwith Queen in 2014. He was already 32 and been in the music business in many different ways since he was 18. I think he is a person who know what he wants, doesn't compromise, but is pleasant and easy to get along with, although you would think it wasn't true, since he has his own opinions. But apparently he disagrees in a cordial way and doesn't burn any bridges.

Yep that pretty much sums up what I see of him, he's good at being assertive without being aggressive and although he's respectful I really couldn't see him being any kind of pushover. He's frequently said they've been collaborative with him from the start and have given him a lot of freedom.
No idea what went wrong with the collab with Paul, maybe their personalities just didn't gel long term and they all just found it hard to spend so much time together on the road.

Energetic-queer vibe? I have no idea what that is!
Did Freddie have that?
