And if they jealous of Mary, did they would make a movie like this?
That new photo... Ouch!!! One of these things you wish you had actually NOT seen in your life.
I met her in 92,have a photo somewhere, she was lovely, and took time to talk about Freddie, and Garden Lodge!
She’s not a gold digger - a lifelong and very supportive friend of Freddie. She didn’t ask to be left 50% of Freddie’s fortune.
One thing that bothers me about the article is when they say the rest of Queen were bitter about her being left so much. Would they really care? They seem to split most things four ways and are extremely rich themselves - surely they wouldn’t have expected to be left anything by Freddie?
Also it’s not like mary has stopped them doing anything with Freddie’s music etc

She interited the money and the rights to the songs? What should she have done??? She is right about JIm. The book was awful and indiscrete. She is the only one (apart John) who stood loyal to Freddie and did not write a book or shit like that. The biggest golddiggers are Maylor though. Exploiting Freddie and insulting him at the same time. That's where you should be shocked[/QUOTE]
Why is Jim's book insulting? Or awful? He had the right to tell their story, that was his life too.
Many people believe in fairy tales about Mary and Freddie, like those shown in the movie. If this book doesn't exist would be easier for persons who created stories like this to twisting the facts, so I'm glad that this book exists.
About Brian and Roger, do I agree or disagree with all what they do, it doesn't matter. They are members of the band and they have a part in making Queen's music and it's logical to make money from it.

I do not think if it is appropriate to let strangers know that he peed himself in the pants and other stuff. That was disgusting to write

"a gay" and to be honest she had lots of men after Freddie so she was hardly that close to him, and probably just a friend nothing more. Freddie found true love with Jim Hutton, and Mary could not handle that one.

So you know her personally?
Christallstar, please do not believe what the sensationalist press is telling you. A lot of its stories are just made up - partially. No one in Queen is bitter towards Mary Austin because of her inheritance. In fact, she's a trustee of the Mercury Phoenix Trust, alongside Brian, Roger and Jim Beach. They might not hang out with each other casually, but that doesn't indicate that anyone in the Queen organization is bitter towards her. As far as the photo is concerned, I am not at all sure that it really shows Mary Austin. If it does, who cares about how she looks like? She doesn't look awful, just different. Older. And she's entitled to look that way. She's not a celebrity and, to my knowledge, never seeked the limelight. Why would she go out shopping dressed to the nines? If the photo really shows her, she wears a Whole Foods-bag, thus she probably went shopping. By the way, a large Whole Foods-store is located about a 15-20 minute walk distance from Garden Lodge on Kensington High Street. Therefore, it might be her...
That's definitely Mary Austin in the photo. She's entitled to slip out in tracksuit bottoms and go shopping without being photographed, and it looks like she was completely unaware of it being taken. I'm sure she can glam herself up when necessary. Think of all the times Freddie walked around in a tracksuit looking nothing like Freddie Mercury....
In some ways Mary Austin is lucky, she inherited a lot of money and the rights to live in a beautiful house. In other ways, she's had to deal with being hounded by the press, false accusations in the press, and the fall out with the relationship with Jim Hutton (if they fell out, so what, there was animosity there, and not one of them will be fully in the right, but does it need to go in print?), and she's had to stop people writing on her house.
I don't feel sorry for her in the sense that she's well off and can do what she likes with the enormous financial freedom she has, but I do feel sorry that her privacy is not her own.

How is calling a gay man "gay" an insult? Do you even bother to think about what you're saying?
Ah yes, 68 yrs old. Some people have this impression that aging can actually be stopped. Surprise on you! Sure, Mary could have her hair colored to take out all the gray; I bet with some makeup on she looks younger than her years, but if people think a 68 yr old with no makeup on is going to somehow pass for 40, well you're in for a very rude awakening. And hate to break it to you all, but putting on weight in the years after menopause is very common and then there's gravity which always has it's way. Compare pics of Rog and Bri now with themselves 20 yrs ago. Notice them aging?
As for Mary and receiving all she did in Freddie's will, that was his choice. Did anyone ever legally contest Freddie's will? (answer: no). There's no way the other members of Queen would care how Freddie divided up his estate in his will. Why would they? It's not like the 3 other band members were going to be beneficiaries in Freddie's estate. There was nothing in Freddie's will that limited the remaining Queen members from doing what they wanted to do with the music or his likeness.
On the other hand Mary does seem like a lonely person to me--probably was utterly lost and sad for years after Freddie died. Perhaps still is. Her sons are grown and living their own lives. She is surrounded by all the memories of Freddie in an estate that still has his furnishings (allegedly). The decades pass but the loss remains forever, and while fans feel deeply how Freddie was amazing and can never be replaced, imagine knowing him as intimately as Mary (and Jim) did. The tragedy of Freddie is as real as the triumph and genius of his talent. I read Hutton's book and I like it for the insight into those last years and appreciated the intimacy of it all, including dear Freddie's death.

To me, there is nothing insulting in Jim's book. In fact, we learned from this book how Freddie really was brave. Regardless of the illness he continued to work, making songs, singing and recording. How he tried to continue normal life as much as possible. I understand why Jim wanted to tell the world their story. He wanted everyone to know that the truth was different from the one that even today is in the media.
I like the book but I don't mind if someone doesn't like it. Everyone has their own opinion.
Ok. Mary inherited the house and money. But if it's true that Freddie wanted Jim and others to stay in the house and told them that it would be so, likely he had a reason why he believed that really will happen. Only Freddie knew what reason was but if he believed in her word, he was very wrong.
Didn’t Freddie get a house for Jim besides money?
And why would Mary want to raise her children with all those dudes and their lovers in her house? Certainly Freddie wouldn’t have expected that.

If Freddie didn't expect that they really stay in the house as long as they want, why he said it to them then? Just for joking? Or did he say it just to something to say?
I don't think he would be joking about it.
I believe he had some reason that he thought they would stay in the house. I think If he didn't expect it he wouldn't mention it.
But who knows. We can only have our own opinion about it.
