Innuendo — 28 years ago

Queen even.....

I’ll never forget hearing Innuendo for the first time - it sent shivers up my spine. I think the fan club had said there was going to be a new album which I thought was a bit suspicious considering the gaps between previous work and the lack of a miracle tour.

But hearing it on the radio that first time made me think then that it was a great Queen masterpiece. The only way my opinion changed is that now it is the last great Queen masterpiece.

When it comes on I turn the volume right up and ride the drum rolls at the beginning and let its majesty wash over me.

It's a brilliant album for lots of reasons.

Above all else it shows what they were still capable of when they were focused, it's something that so much of their 80's work lacked with outside interference and band members pulling in different directions.

I tend to like AGP, but only for the BIG Multi harmony vocal part at the end of the song.

Anybody remember the time someone on QZ postulated an entirely hypothetical new QUEEN album consisting of guessed songs and featuring a SELF TITLED band song called "QUEEN "? this person also included the hypothetical track length in order to fit a typical 70 minute album.

Do y'all remember that?

The Innuendo group photo has always been my favourite one of the band. It is eerie, but very stylish at the same time. I love it.

I tried to listen to the album last night, but I couldn't. Far too emotional, and with my father being terminal, even more emotional...maybe another time.
