Well in case anyone doesn't know, https://www.instagram.com/p/Bt6wkOEh6MM/

The full thing is from Brian's instagram.

"Tonight our very own Moon is ‘gibbous’ - meaning its phase - its illumination - is somewhere between half and full, as seen from Earth. My telescope - on my roof in town - is dusty these days, but it still works OK - and I was able to hold my iPhone 6 Plus up against the eyepiece to get this picture. It’s a little tricky, and what I’m NOT showing you is all the failures I took before I got lucky with this one ! ??. I apologise for not wishing you all Happy Valentine’s Day. I hope you all had a good one. I was too depressed to go near social media. Anybody else know that feeling ? I had probably the most miserable V day of my whole life. Owing to a diary oversight I was alone all day, and really couldn’t face going out to eat on my own. So I cooked up what was in the fridge, forced it down, and drowned in E-mails all night. I do NOT want sympathy, so please don’t give me any. But now you know that this particular rock star does not have a magically perfect life. Maybe that’s a useful thing to know. Today, yesterday is over, and its dull pain is fading, so I thought I’d venture out. Hope you guys are all setting a better example than me ! Let’s share this gibbous Moon (it’s up there right now) and celebrate that we have a Moon to light up our darkness. I have long thought that the fact that we have a moon of the exact size that can cover the face of the Sun so perfectly may have something to do with the fact that we – Earthly life – exist. But that’s just my enthusiastic amateur astronomer’s view. I’ve never heard any other astronomer express that view. The mysteries and beauty of the night sky give me hope - hope that my own impossibilities are very small in comparison. The trouble is, believing it is one thing - but FEELING it is another altogether. Have a great weekend, folks. Bri —- PS Just so you know - cos I didn’t, for ages - ‘GIBBOUS’ is pronounced with a ‘g’ as in “give”’ - not as in “gin”. ????"

He posted it a few days after Valentines day, so not a spur of the moment thing. Anita is performing in a show, travelling round the country at the moment. My impression is that Brian posts these kind of things from time to time to convey that even though he is a hugely rich and successful rock star, he has bad days like anyone else. I think he intends it as a positive thing and I think overall it is nice. I mean, like... I've never done anything on any Valentines day myself, or thought of that as remotely miserable... i.e. saying "I had probably the most miserable V day of my whole life" to me reads slightly oddly. Someone may as well have written "I had probably the most miserable 23rd June of my whole life" but you know, Brian means well.

However, if Brian wishes to convey that he's just like anyone else, he need only come to queenzone to find he'll be faced with the same level of ridicule all of us are in one thread or another, eh?!

He posted a rather lovely photo of the moon too!

What an incredible world we live in...

Brian says he doesn't feel well and most reactions are not of empathy. I can't understand this. I feel sorry for any person who feels bad.

Those dark thoughts seem to come and go to Brian. Must be very hard for him.

I found ignoring social media posts by member of the band and their official band page, and reading the comments under them has started to preserve the reason I liked Queen in the first place. All the magic has gone from pop stars. I feel sorry for kids now.

When this was a fresh post yesterday I was going to reply something along the lines of 'I bet I've stared into a darker void than him but without the crux of money and fame and I didn't once pour it all out boo hooing in public. Can't face going out for dinner in a fancy restaurant? ON MY HEART BLEEDS'

But then I thought I'd feel bad if he topped himself after reading it. But either way sort it out Brian FFS.

Hee.

On a serious note, I think Brian probably can't fully imagine what real life is like for most people at least in terms of what it is when not only do you feel bad, but you for example have no money and are totally alone. I guess he's been famous so long, how could he truly conceive of it.

Brian perhaps doesn't realise that if there are people out there whose life is truly terrible and they can see no hope in the future, or awful things have happened and they know that is all that lies ahead for them too, or they're truly depressed... it is unlikely that hearing an internationally famous, hugely rich rock star also feels a bit down somedays will make such a person feel better. In fact it might make them feel hugely worse.

But hey, I know Brian means well in sharing that he has bad days too. And he must get thousands of comments from people saying they're going through a bad time and hoping he might reply and of course he couldn't have the time or ability to reply to everyone, but he must see some of them and knowing Brian, probably feels guilty that he can't respond to everyone, so he writes posts like this - sharing that he feels this way some days too.

As for his emotional state, I'm going to guess he's feeling a little better today - about to perform at and fairly likely be a part of winning some (or at least one) Oscars.

As much as I admire what he's achieved in his life, I think Brian does act like a cosseted rock star sometimes with his ignorant comments about Brexit, moaning about the view from 1st class air travel, and his 'bollocks to the economy' campaign a few years ago.
