That's sad that eBay doesn't care about this :-( And no, there is absolutely no reason for anybody to buy them

I know you're looking for a US buyer - but £40 postage to the UK? Jeez. That's before customs come in....
I thought Royal Mail were extortionate. Prices over there must be crippling :(

Having bought from the US via EBay, they add additional fees as well as postage so you won’t have to pay customs charges this end & shipping is insured (otherwise if a poster writes a value of over say £15 on any item posted internationally you’ll be paying at least the same again in customs fees once it gets into the country.... and the higher the value of the item, the more you’ll have to pay.)
From eBay’s perspective they probably had lots of people sending items with low value written to avoid these fees & problems arising if they got lost in the post with neither buyer or seller wishing to accept responsibility for loss. This ensures things must be posted with true value and insurance I guess.

I get how it works, but in this case, the fee is just postage - so there is a chance of being hit with a customs charge at this end.
For me, it doesn't matter how it's dressed up: an extra charge on the item to ensure no customs charge, or a customs charge at the this end still equals an extra charge. And the higher the value of the item, the higher eBay's extra charge is anyway, so it's swings and roundabouts.
It's all very wrong. Put import fees on new items - but with second hand stuff, the fees and taxes were already paid first time around.
I'm not interested in the item btw, it's just an observation. I clicked the link out of curiosity and noticed the high postage price.
Also, as Pittrek points out, this shouldn't really be on eBay (and probably not on the "Serious Discussion" on QZ either - there's a trading section for this).
