Who was the better hider regards to being part of some of the biggest rock bands in the world... to then, go completly off the radar..

Both share some amazing similarities in many ways..

SYD was THE leader the other was well John... was just "the" bassist.... BUT....
BOTH wrote some of the band's biggest hits... (Syd was the only member who actually wrote singles and write more than one hit... See Emily play Arnold lane)
Both totally dropped off the radar once they called time in their respected bands both possibly due to mental ilness/depression.... Syds was drug induced, John on the other hand... Lots of great talk... some of the best debates regarding John in a long time... But whether it's mental or just had enough and is simply enjoying the simple life although Syds sister claims he was sane??!!! Just wanted the quiet life being an artist

I think Richey Manic should also be in this poll.

I concur, Richey Edwards for the win.
We love you Mandy!

depends if his trail was actually a trail or purposeful dead end. if he really did kill himself, then he shouldn't be in the poll. but if his family's theory is correct... i cannot wait for his autobiography.

It was a huge story in the popworld back then. Britpop hadn't quite hit that hard yet so it was odd for a guitar band to get new items. This was before the Manics rebirth as real chart fodder.

Generally I think he was considered too intelligent to top himself, but conversely was hugely troubled and found comfort in nihilism. One listen to The Holy Bible / read of the lyric sheet makes you understand this was a guy who only saw disappointment and darkness.

Or at least... that's what their self created myth says
