Tie your mother down would have been a good song to play at live aid.

Queen took the playing UP straight away because it was a hit. That's the sort of band they are. I don't think AOBTD was even considered for the stage show until it became a (largely unexpected) hit.
HTF seems to be the right 'rocker' to play - but no mention of Save Me. That would've fit nicely.

But again - wasn't featured on The Works tour so probably not in contention to begin with.

HTF is a great song for live performances, but Queen did have bigger hits that could have been played instead.
Still IMO the Live Aid set was already amazing as it was.

That was the original setlist in the totally historically accurate Bohemian Rhapsody movie.

mooghead no I would just rather them play slower and more melodic songs given the gig.

Basically, it was the last 6 songs or so that they had played during the 84/85 tours... If you check the setlists it's about the same. Also, by and large, the same "last " 6 songs played on the Magic Tour. It wasn't quite as "clever" as anyone would have us believe.

Correct. Great to hear Freddie sing those songs fresh having not played the rest of the set first. His power and energy...well you know the rest.

David Bowie was there, Under Pressure with David would've been awesome.

Hammer To Fall had lyrics that generation could relate to, plus it scorched the audience. They needed a loud guitar driven song. Queen is about being diverse. The occasion showed off different styles they could do. Not the same track over and over. Can you imagine them performing Fat Bottomed Girls, Tie Your Mother Down, or Put Out The Fire in Hammer To Fall’s place for the occasion? Neither can I.
Another One Bites The Dust? Oh my God, it appears people on here forgot what Live Aid was about.

I think they could have ditched the Mercury and May slot, and had Queen and Bowie doing under pressure instead. But they didn't. Anyway it was a good show they pulled off in both slots.
