IMHO Madonna was never any good. But, because she was totally hot the not-quite-a-prostitute-but-almost act tended to distract people from the fact that, you know, the music really sucked. Now that she's not hot anymore, people have started noticing the music - and guess what? They find it - let's say "wanting"...

I dunno, some of those mid 80s tunes were great. But that just might be nostalgia.
