Amidds, I lived with my grandparents and my grandfather had a navy buddy and he had a granddaughter and we became best friends at the age of 10.We entered middle school as more than friends and yes our grand parents just thought we were friends so we had sleepovers etc just like any other girls.However we lived in fear constantly someone was gonna find out.By the time we entered high school we lived in a very conservative state in a small town so we would go to bigger cities within our state with fake ID just to get away without anyone seeing us.It was a miserable time for me.It made me grow up quickly way before my time.At 17 I became unfaithful to her with a guy and she was devastated and we had a huge fight at school I was at band practice on the football field and she walked out of the gym because she played basketball with her ball in hand she dropped it and the fight was on.The whole school gossiped and everyone knew we were together then so to make a long story short i transferred out of school because i just didn't want to deal with all the bullying and gossip.We are friends now but it did take a bit.

Amidds, I so agree about the context of the times.
In high school, I remember conversations about parents struggling with the decision of disowning
children who marry outside of religion or any “norm”. I’m sure this still exists but doesn’t seem as prevalent.
It was very touching the interview when Freddie’s Mom said she felt he wanted to protect them.
It was an interesting time too because, thank goodness, through the repression began the era of the 60’s and 70’s self expression. And the bravery of people who took the first steps. It’s incredible the explosion of musical / artistic expression of those times too. Paving the way. As I continue to learn about Freddie, I see some parallels to my Dad, who was born in 1929 and was in a military school by the age of 7. Tradition, etiquette, respect, community, integrity, my Dad, ironically, also loved to celebrate birthdays. :-))

I want Queen As it Began....so very badly. To think I probably could have gotten it about two years ago, before the BoRhap explosion....but I was green and just beginning my Quest for anything Freddie....i mentally put Queen related stuff on the back burner...and now ....here we are!! I will be sure to check my local library's loaner system. I hadn't thought of that until you all mentioned it here. I think it was Amidds. (You don't have to tell me if you don't want to.....but I noticed the dds..on your screen name and wondered if you were a dentist, by chance????)
Also, Big Big thank you to the One that shared the link to the 2019 Freddie documentary (I think it was Lsgp03?)I watched it last night and enjoyed it immensly!! Especially seeing Rose Rose....who is Dr Rose, no less. She was pretty and well spoken and I would love to hear more from her. (I still need to read her book, as well!!)
Freddie came to me in a dream last night and I'm over the moon!! I think the ear buds and documentary right before sleep helped!!!! If true, that's how I am going to go to sleep every night!!!!!!

Noorie was caught lying about her uncle knowing Freddie personally so I would take everything she says with a grain of salt. Everything she claimed her uncle said about Freddie was in direct contradiction to everything everyone else who ever knew him said. "He was never bullied at St.Peter's. And us Paris loved him. Paris always supported him. The fact that he called everyone darling and dear had nothing to do with him being gay. That's a parsi thing." Wrong wrong wrong and wrong. When people asked for proof that her uncle knew Freddie at St.Peters because everything she said was the opposite of what his actual St.Peter's friends said she flipped out and stormed off. She doesn't strike me as a very trustworthy individual.
