The show was awesome Brian in that suit was a little scary but he is a true genius.Freddie once said in a interview his music or songs were disposible listen to them while you like them and then throw them out.He was so wrong his music and legacy will live on for many years and generations to come.
(Throughout the broadcast they mentioned doing simultaneous broadcasts around the world next year. Sounded almost like a Live Aid type thing)
Katy-right, they sure did. Thought I heard them say 4-5 shows simultaneously for next year, right?
Amidds! Nooooooo!!! :((
You must have been going crazy.
I would bail you out for that cause. :$)
I’m sure everyone is way ahead of me and may not be anything new but a lot of videos came up on a google search of “global citizen Queen”
Amidds....Could a cable problem happen a less opportune moment? I would have yelled at the TV (knowing what an effective cable repair technique that is! ) As it was, after Queen's third song there was a commercial break. "NO way" I thought. "They can't only be performing three songs". After the commercial break, the show resumed and Queen was in the MIDDLE of a song!!!
I read that the concert next year is 10 hours long, from 5 continents. I saw a partial list of the performers taking part in the 2020 event. Queen wasn't on the list, but it's still early and there will be many more added. I'm sure they will want to participate if at all possible. While watching some of the videos during the festival, I was happy to see so many people around the world engaging in amazing grass-roots initiatives to elevate the lives of the neediest and to take care of the Earth. At a time when there is so much negativity in the world, seeing how much people care and watching those young folks gather for a good cause was very uplifting!
Rainbow!! Beautifully said. I so agree. I had that feeling too.... THIS IS IT! ...we grew up with that spirit and those movements. To see so many coming together and also publicly acknowledging and encouraging children who are making such a difference. The huge ripple effect of this keeps sinking in deeper. On the live aid anniversary Martha Quinn said something in an interview that made me think....she said that at that time people felt they could really make a difference. It’s so good to see this belief and action alive and well.
Rainbow,Thanks girl I haven't connected much with people since this whole thing happened.I just tend to try to move past it and pretend like it's not there.Well I cant do that so I do appreciate you giving me this info I will check it out.Did you enjoy the show it was unforgettable wasnt it.Anyone that hasn't seen it should and anyone that doesnt like it should go to hell.I'm just kidding everyone is entitled to their opinion but they are keeping Freddie's legacy alive.I think in the end that's their goal and having a good time doing it.
JB, I'm really encouraged to see young people taking initiative! It's all so positive!
So nice you all understand my anger! Worst part is, it took out internet too so I couldn’t even switch over to YouTube! I did notice the guy crouching down by Roger though, anyone figure out what he was doing! I saw so little of it that I just thought it was a roadie bringing something out to him but it sounds like he was there for quite a while!?
OK another busy day but I finally get a chance to look up everything I missed last night! Wish me luck!!!
Roger's drum tech is named NIGEL - see him at 5:50

Hi Love2spin! Welcome! Thank you so much for the link and information. That video is hysterical!! I guess he “watches the drums” too funny... and very good to know. Did you get to see the global citizen concert past night?
Happy Rosh Hashanah - to those who observe it!
Rainbow, JB and Katydyd, I second ALL your sentiments about Queen + AL and the Global Citizen Fest last night, when I watched it. It felt like my 3rd time seeing "The Rhapsody Tour." The band truly "rocked the stage" like you said. I heard the "Freddie" chants. I also liked seeing Alicia Keys perform "Empire State of Mind" earlier; sorry, that's not Freddie-related. The Gen Zs and the Millennials are the future. It gave me hope to see them care about the environment and demonstrate compassion for those who live in developing countries. We often take education, sanitation, modern medicine, etc. for granted in 1st-world countries.
Katydyd, how was the Broadway musical "Come From Away?" Oct. is around the corner, so I assume you saw it already. I can't wait to see it later in Oct. I've been playing the awesome soundtrack ad nauseam in my vehicle. Well, it's only ad nauseam to the other passengers! LOL
HelloDelilah, thanks for the links. Adam is so stellar when he performs "Who Wants to Live Forever," another one of my fav' Queen songs. It's a particularly poignant song. I've watched it repeatedly.
JB, I've been SO busy. I have yet to see my "Queen + Bejart Ballet for Life" DVD. I would love it if the Bejart Ballet revived the dance and took the tour to the U.S., capitalizing on the popularity of "Bohemian Rhapsody," like "WWRY." Have you watched it in its entirety yet? I have also yet to complete reading "Freddie Mercury: A Life, In His Own Words." I won't allow myself to buy any more books or DVDs till I complete the ones I already have at home.
FD, maybe you should refer to it as "damn UNpredictive text!"
Love2Spin, thanks for the video. I don't know how they kept such straight faces.
Jo and JB, I'm just home from seeing Come From Away. I loved it. LOVED it!! I'll be thinking about it for a while. I knew the story line but I guess I just never focused on that aspect of 9/11 before. The audience sprang to their feet for a standing ovation that just went on and on. I'm so glad that Lee recommended this show. I wish I had listened to the soundtrack beforehand. You are smart to do so Jo. Please let us know your impressions after you see it.
Love2Spin...Oh my gosh...that clip was laugh-out-loud funny! Thanks for sharing. I bet they had to film a few of the spots more than once, as it would have been hard not to crack up while delivering those lines. They seem like a fun group of people to work with. Favorite comment was about Brian's hair.
Love2Spin, that video was hilarious!!! It really made my day. :)
Freddie Darling, your predictive texts crack me up!! They're really so funny! LOL
Katydyd5, glad you enjoyed the Broadway musical. It's nice when Broadway comes to your hometown.
Jo T, I'll have to watch Who Wants to Live Forever since it's your favorite and I haven't seen all the videos yet! :)
I would have loved to see the concert in person. Lucky for those who live close by. The energy there seemed really high and exciting! I'm still partial to the original Queen with Freddie and am happy that they included him in the concert. Highlights for me so far were Love of My Life and We Are the Champions. I like that fact that Adam respects Freddie and the rest of the band. Kudos to him for making the songs his own. He's never going to sound like Freddie and fans shouldn't expect that of him.
So much to catch up on here. Hope everyone had a great weekend! xo
Thanks for positive feedback
Interestingly I saw many of those folks (still touring with Queen) at MSG in August - had seats close to the "mixing" area. Loved all the little quirks especially misspelling Hendrix on the broken guitar. They put a lot of thought into that video.
