Amidds, I love the 'yous guys', though I'm not sure it's as good as y'all!
JB & Katydyd, thanks for your patience! Yes, we - 5 of us - saw the touring Broadway musical "Come From Away" last weekend. It was unanimously praised by all! Then, my 2018 federal taxes were due on the 15th (extension deadline). Also, Thor announced he had to undergo knee surgery #3. I felt the timing wasn't right then to post my reaction, due to the gravitas of his current medical condition.
Lee (Nolan), thanks for recommending "CFA" in the 1st place! Till you recommended it, I wouldn't have thought to see "CFA" on my own, because 9/11 is too real, too depressing, not exactly MY idea of entertainment. Then, I figured if you had praised it, it would HAVE to be an awesome musical because of your background as an actor/singer. It was! You have the aesthetic eye of a pro. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see your actor friend in the show and he wasn't in my program as standby, either. However, I had previously seen Michael Brian Dunn on the names/photos of cast members for the tour on the "CFA" Web site.
JB & Katydyd, where do I start? Seeing "CFA" was like visiting an old friend. I had played the soundtrack during my daily commute to/from work (27 miles each way) for the past month. It was great to hear it finally performed live, because I loved the soundtrack. JB, for my show, Marika Aubrey was the actor for Captain Beverley Bass. Even though she wasn't Jenn Colella or Zoe Gertz, she was certainly very talented as Captain Bass. Katydyd, like you, we had standing ovations for both the cast, as well as the band, at the end. The characters of the gay couple, both Kevins, absolutely cracked me up. I'm glad I finally got to see the "ugly stick," the inanimate object used to stomp the floor of the bar, during the drunken revelry @ the Gander Legion. From the soundtrack, I had wondered, "What the h - - - is an 'ugly stick'?" In the show, actor James Earl Jones II played Bob - and others. I had to research online to see if that was indeed his real name and if he was Darth Vader's OTHER son - for real (I'm a "Star Wars" gal.). James Earl Jones II "Bob" in "CFA" isn't the son of legendary actor James Earl Jones "Vader," but they ARE related. They're 3rd cousins and that IS his real name. He was named after his father. Deep voices in the men appear to be a family trait, bass and baritone - no higher.
Thor, I hope you get to see "CFA" when it rolls around to the San Diego Civic Theatre in 2020. By then, your knee should have LONG been healed and the complications a remote memory! I've no doubt you'll like the musical. The actors are tremendously talented and the songs are the bomb - no pun intended. You've reiterated the importance of kindness in your threads. I quote one of the stranded "plane people," an architect, diverted to Gander, Newfoundland from the YouTube documentary recommended by Rainbow, how 9/11 represented both "the worst of humanity" and "the best of humanity." Gander and its townsfolk clearly represented the latter. The same architect later helped design the 9/11 Memorial Museum Pavilion in NYC's Lower Manhattan, the site of the former World Trade Ctr. I also like how a theatre critic for "The Washington Post" reviewed "CFA" and found it to be the "antidote for the ailing American soul" and how "terrorism's mortal enemy = love."
Lastly, JB, if it wasn't for your mention that you saw "CFA" back in Aug., I wouldn't have thought to check the current tour schedule and learn it would indeed stop @ my metropolis in Oct. Thank YOU! BTW, we may even go see it again in your metropolis, as part of my annual visit, in 2020. If so, why don't you, me and Amidds head to Sidetrack in Boystown one night? I'll buy the 1st round! Lastly, I haven't watched my "Queen + Bejart Ballet for Life" DVD yet, and I'm a fan of ballet. I HAVE managed to remove the cellophane wrap though. It's a start. I'm aiming to watch it BEFORE 2020, says the person who deferred taxes for 6 mos. After reading YOUR post, I look forward to it even more!
I'm sorry my post ran SO long. Welcome Thereuhaveit!
Wow,What a post awesome words!on my way to Neverland gonna try to stay a few days got return Wednesday to go to neurologist Thor you wont be far from my thoughts .I hope you are getting some rest or at least trying too.I will keep checking in.
Fido, y'all is MUCH better, and easier. I had to strain myself for the Chicago "accent". If you decide to meow instead, you do have 10 cats names to choose from that would be awesome :)
Jo T. YES!! Actually, I missed CFA this year due to the car accident, etc so we should all meet up for the show and drinks!! Hopefully, we can discuss the new Thor/Lee book as well! CFA is about the same time next year as Montreux, which I plan to go to but can prob swing both if you guys (and anyone else close) are really interested!!! That would be so much fun!!
Fredfie, I'm a little slow but am noticing a definite canine thread running through your corrective texts......what the heck kind of phone do you have lol??
Chevy, is Neverland part of the 2 week cabin trip with friends? That could be fun, just watch out for those darn llamas! They've been know to wreck musical collaborations......
Amidds,I find MJ a Little creepy the llama thing is so nasty.I couldn't deal with that. The house he lived in is up for sale I think I dont think its sold yet cause of all the allegations that were out on him.The place I'm at is in the of no where kinda off the grid you could run around naked and afraid if you wanted too.Alot of drinking talking about old drama stories we all went to school together. Some drinking I wont be doing much of that well maybe just a little I have to make sure everything is mixed right.Later gotta make a beer run.Lots of well thoughts to a special someone you know who you are.
Amidds.. cool! Of course you have the DVD! You must have a great collection. And- you are spot on! It was Winter 1980. Don’t be too impressed (you can be if you really want to :)) I was just looking at Thor’s original post to share link on the book thread. Haha.
Jo T. And Amidds! Great idea!! YES, YES!!! I am in for show and drinks!!’ Sidetracks looks really great. Once we see who else is in, we could start a planning email or text to pick dates. Amidds do you have idea when you will fly out? (Soooo excited for you!)
How perfect we can do a make-up for Amidds and toast that you are okay after your accident!! I’m sure we will have a lot to toast. :)))
Jo T. I absolutely loved reading your CFA post!’ I love that it felt like visiting an old friend. It was absolutely fitting and perfectly compassionate that you waited to post!!’ I would have done the same thing.
I’ll be back for more conversation from your post. Wanted to pop in and let you both know I am in for 2020 plans. Yay!
Thereuhaveit. Meow— so funny. Expect the unexpected right. :)
As long as I was there, I took screenshot. Thor’s original post to follow.
Amidds , I use my tablets to post. Blame Google!
Mind you phone in Cockney Rhyming Slang IS "dog and bone" !
Hey, Peeps! It's the weekend! Hope you all find time for some Freddie Fun.
Chechnya (Chevyman! Damn predictive text!) I hope you have a super relaxing time. You deserve it!
It's tiddling down with rain all over England right now, real stair rods! Cold, too. Time to cuddle up under my Freddie fleece. Lovely!
TTFN
Fredfie
Jo T--thanks for the welcome.
Amidds, 'Fido' is definitely shorter. Cat talk would need to be a total of 12 cats as I assume you're referring to the 10 Garden Lodge cats. I'll add my 2--Nuri and Astrud.
JB050--Always the unexpected...:)
Thereuhaveit , my fur baby is called Mitzy Munchkin! :-)d
Sweet, FreddieDarling ! I used to have a cat named Mitzy, no 'Munchkin' though. Yours looks like one I had when I grew up.
JB, I AM impressed. Even if you hadn't been right there, you are one heck of a researcher!! No idea on flights yet, we just finalized our Ireland trip!! Hoping to start the planning for Switzerland, possible Italy trip next month. If we could hit CFA end of August, that gives me plenty of time! btw, my collection really isn't so great, just happen to have that one cause I always loved the clips from that concert :). If I was rich, I'd have a room full of memorabilia and possibly original costumes worn by FM......
Fredfie and Fido, total of 14, if we include my own...Roxy. There's a joke to be made there of cat ladies I'm sure but I love them!
We can blame it on Google for now. Only since Chevy came out as Chechnya and not something like Chow Chow or Chihuahua. If you start referring to JB or Jo T as Jack Russell or something, we will have to rethink lol!
Amidds, What are you guys on?I'm playing quarters .But you guys are having much more fun it seems. How many of you guys are men ?and let me guess.AmiddsYour a lady right.Jb050,is a lady right and our newest member thereyouhaveit is a man right. How smart am I?
Oops, Chevy, you've struck out, I'm afraid. I'm a woman, but I do have four older brothers, one Hub, and one son if that is means anything.
FreddieDarling, I love to blame all sorts of things on Google, but I really like some of your predictive texts mistakes, downright charming.
Thereuhaveit,two out of 3 not bad I guess.am I a woman or a man it's so interesting to see people's reactions?four brothers how nice.
