However, as Capital suffered from a loss of funding, they avoided risk by focusing on a few acts only, such as Duran Duran (who were very popular in the U.S at this point, with their previous two albums in '82 and '83 going 2× Platinum). After Hot Space, Queen wouldn't have been seen as a dead cert in the U.S, despite the sales of Radio Gaga looking fairly good up until that point.
