Hey everyone! Has anyone heard the new uploaded concert Live in Sun City followed by an interview with Bri and Roger? The sound quality is impeccable. Too bad there's no video.
What do you guys think of: 1) the concert itself, and 2) Queen doing concerts in Sun City in the middle of the Apartheid controversy? I didn't realize they played, not one, but 12 concerts there. Wow, that just goes to show that nobody tells Queen what to do.

Queen never played suncity.
According to my research they had split up when the concert was supposed to have taken place.

In all seriousness though Brian deciding either retroactivly or at the time that he could spin it as good PR breaking down barriers as the crowds were mixed is laughable.
I think Rogers "a lot of money for a bad decision" (paraphrased) quote summed thing up.
It didn't hurt them in the long term though, and I'm pretty sure live aid, in part, was to try and make up for it.

Well said! All I can add is that they were either very naive or very cynical in taking up the offer - they were being used by the South African government, and, although they largely got away with it, they ought to have known that it would cause them at least some trouble - and Brian's continuing refusal to admit that they were wrong to play there seriously hurts his credibility whenever he attempts to claim the moral high ground.
