It seems they actually replaced the old crappy version of the BoRhap promo video on YouTube. Didn't know YouTube had that functionality.

Anyway, the 'new' promo looks great. I hope this is a precursor of more to come.

It will become more interesting with a promo shot on film instead of video.

Yes would be nice to see a definitive list of what was shot on film vs videotape (though you can usually tell)

Maybe Sikke cam upload Don't Stop Me Now in HD if they take too long ??

It was to celebrate Bo Rhap hitting one billion views
The new video is great but the new thumbnail isn't as good as the old one

Have to say the remastered version does look very nice. Maybe precursor to a Blu Ray of all the promos in time for Christmas?

The DVD releases have some lovely surround mixes, but cropped videos. I'd certainly go for a remastered and upscaled Blu Ray collection that restored the original formats. (Or used whatever the proper source was).
They are riding so high currently that there may actually be a big enough market for them to consider it.

The Time Waits for No One video shows what could be done with anything shot on film. (Which presumably isnt that many tbh)

Agree about the Thumbnail, Nothing wrong with trying something new, but for Bo Rhap I don't see why they wouldn't stick with the iconic Queen 2 cover style.

A bluray would be awesome!
This place used to be great, but now it is an absolute joke. For serious Queen discussion, please visit http://www.queenforum.net

Yes, Time Waits for Nobody is a good example how a Queen/Freddie product can look and sound amazing if these goons from QP don't get involved in it.

Bo Rhap looks ok but certainly not amazing. Bare in mind it was upscaled from the edited video and not from the old negative reels with footage if they still exist.

^ Bohemian Rhapsody was shot on video, not film. It will never look better.

Right Chief, I know the difference between film and video quality. But this had to do with a generation thing right? Would it make a difference if they compiled it from a fresh transfer from the old master reels and do a new edit?

Yes best available generation I'd say plus the original upload was only 360p resolution I believe ( that was the maximum at the time of upload). After I watched it a estored Beatles video came on, that of course looked WAY better since it was a film transfer :-(

Pretty much everything from the 80's was shot on film. Play the Game & Flash were videotape, and both of the cancelled Hot Space singles. I think everything else was film as we have seen HD rushes for nearly all of the 80s videos across the various documentaries made over the last 10 years. For videos like A Kind of Magic and Save Me though, with special effects and composites, it would mean redoing the f/x since they were edited to videotape. This is usually the stumbling block as it simply isn't cost effective (unless you are Queen Productions and have your own in-house production facillities). :D

As for the videos shot on video, they could be upscaled using Neural Networks. This is an upscaling method that uses AI to redraw the image as opposed to conventional upscaling algorithms. It's early days yet but the results are promising. Check out the upscales of DS9... https://youtu.be/HpxIBKXWn6I

Not really. And who's to say they didn't already do that?

Huge GG on hiting 1B views, didn't know YT have this function to replace video but is great to see this quality change. Can't say the same about the thumbnail :/.

As I said on another thread if you want to see the original videos in their best quality, the laser disc versions are best that has come out so far.
