@Day dop regarding the latest Ask Phoebe—there is someone with the user name FreddieDearie who has a great many posts on QZ essentially saying that Jim and Freddie were not lovers. Or they were but . . .Honestly I don’t remember all the details. If you really want to read some garbage posts you can search.
Apparently this person posts on Instagram as well. And there is other stuff on IG that I vaguely heard about. There are some people in Thor’s thread who know a lot more about this.
It may be Instagram he cares about. This person has posted there and here. I don’t read Insta very much, so don’t know the details about what’s been said over there.
Yes, it is very childish. I made the mistake of writing a three-line post to this person and I got an essay back which I ignored.
I like Phoebe a lot. He's in a difficult and unique position. He's correct in the first post about the conflicts (taking QZ as an example) because it really does ruin the band. We all like them for different reasons and by the very nature of us loving it enough to post about it surely we all see the vast complex appeal of the band's output and adventures through the years.
Commenting on people who claim they knew Freddie - well, I'm sure some of them did, I'm sure there are also people who exaggerate their involvement (be it as a coping mechanism or purely for boasting) and he is right to try to level up the blind faith some people show taking interest and goading these people into tales of 30 years ago. I personally don't engage with that side of things because I don't get anything out of that side of it.
I was going to say something along the line of 'yeah but he just wants to make Freddie's legacy about 'amazing hats' FFS' but of course, yes he probably does because that was the Freddie he knew. In the same way Mack would like the legacy to be about the studio work. There are so many almost entirely unconnected branches to this Queen thing and, hey, we can all get on and appreciate why we're here. Long live Phoebe.
