Just now, Selina, John's daughter posted on Facebook that John passed away at his home this morning.
He is a much respected and loved member of the Queen community and his knowledge on Queen's studio material had been a treasure for collectors world wide.
Although he was less active in the Queen community after a loss in his family his knowledge will be missed. He will be missed.

Such horrible news, I'm just stunned!
If any of his friends or family read this, I want to offer them my sincere condolences and wish them strength in dealing with their loss, and to say that John's many contributions to what we know about Queen's recordings have been absolutely invaluable. I think he, and his efforts, will be fondly remembered by us for a long time.

This is so sad indeed. We never met in person but we spoke countless times online (the last one being mere days ago) and we had loads of marvellous chats (and a couple of heated arguments as well). He was so clever, so generous, such a nice bloke.
Our last conversation was about something we both loved endlessly: football. I had no idea it would be our last. I'm shocked and saddened by those news, but I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to those who were far closer to him.

Awful, awful news. We chatted briefly here and there over the past 15 (!) years, and he was always pleasant, funny, and intelligent. I would've loved to have gotten a chance to meet him, just to have shaken his hand and bought him a pint for all the contributions he's made to the Queen world in his lifetime.

Shocking to hear about his passing.
He was a close Queen friend of me and many of us. He brought so much into the Queenworld we all benfited from.
He will be missed for that and for his wit and humour.

I read this a wee bit earlier and I'm still stunned.
I never had a chance to actually meet John, however we did speak a lot through Facebook and messenger, and I regarded him as a good friend.
We shared many jokes, football memories (and woes) and of course spoke about Queen together.
He'd often check in to see how I was doing, and provided lots of cool facts for my quizzes. He was an avid fan of Bruce Lee and film trivia too, and we often spoke about that - and investigated and researched a few things together on that front.
To echo what others have said, he was a funny, witty and very clever man, and without whom we wouldn't have the Queen collection or knowledge that we do.

John Stuart was a great person, intelligent, kind, and generous, his sense of humour was exceptional. Of course I got to know him through our common passion for Queen music. We connected in so many ways, that it does not even matter we never met in person, we could talk about virtually everything. I cannot believe he went so suddenly, it makes me so sad. My thoughts are with his family who suffers the second big loss in recent times.

Terribly shocking news. I'm lost for words.
We've been friends with John for such a long time... We shared our love for Queen (and Monthy Python), and the passion for knowledge, to which collecting was but an excuse.
He was always kind, friendly and willing to help in any capacity. He had a fascinating, some would say wonderful (not me ;-)), sense of humour. We trusted each other a lot.
As someone said above, we all owe him so much. All the musical gems he unhearted and preserved for posterity. All those marvelous articles he wrote for Record Collector Magazine and the discussions in here. He was a great researcher, and he really did make a difference to us all. I am immensely proud of his work, and I am humbly grateful that he considered me a colleague of his.
This is a sad day, but I'll raise my glass for you today, my friend. May you rest in peace. You are loved and you will be remembered here. Godspeed, John!
