Love Of My Life promo video question

Hello Queen fans,

Another question or two. Does anyone here own any of the Greatest Flix I & II Laser-discs? Either the separate volumes or the combo of the two volumes which is actually a Box Of Flix since it has the four bonus tracks that were released on the Box Of Flix UK VHS tape. If so, do any of these Laser-discs have the glitch in "Love Of My Life"?

Since I am new to this forum and am not familiar with all the functions, I was wondering how a member can quote someone here in a reply? Also, the three almost identical messages I posted, is there anyone who I can contact here (site admin or moderator) to delete two of the three posts as to keeping the correct one of the three intact? Plus I flubbed a bit and actually hit reply and it made a post(s) that has no info typed in it since it was an accident. Is there a temporary edit function to correct or delete a post if an error is made within a few minutes after posting? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks.

A quick guide to using this site:

Look at the time signatures of a post you've written, move your mouse etc. to the right slowly and the first hyperlink which shows up click on that and you can edit your posts. And, on the same horizontal line the furthest one to the right is the quote function.

The laserdisc does not have the glitch.
It's also worth noting the Promo DVD has only ac3 and mpga audio.

Thanks for replying Kurgan. Is this true for all the laser-discs that have been released? I'm sure you know this but there are the Japan laser-discs as well as the UK versions. There is the USA laser-disc that is missing the Bicycle Race video. I need to find my VHS dub that I bought in 1992. I'm pretty sure the glitch is on my VHS dub of what I would assume is the USA laser-disc. I need to find it to confirm. I was told by the seller that my VHS dub was from laser-disc. At that time, especially here in the USA it was hard to find anything video related to Queen. You either had to buy the imports and/or have a laser-disc player and buy the Japan laser-discs. The formats besides Japan and USA were PAL only for the UK and I have never owned a laser-disc player. And they were expensive to buy as imports or even hard to find someone selling them or the OOP VHS.

What country are your laser-disc(s) from?

As far as the lossy audio on the promo DVD. I'm more into the Flix videos for the visual art aspect. The music on the videos is good enough for me as I can listen to my Queen CDs, vinyl and cassettes or even 8-track.

Thanks for the info, 21st Century Music Fan. I've made quite a mess with my postings so far but I think I'm starting to figure it out.

Yes, mine does the same. It repeats Freddie's "...Beautiful!" a couple of times. [/QUOTE]

Thanks Dane for the reply and info.

For anyone in the USA that does not have the Queen - Greatest Flix I & II double sided promo only DVD, there is a seller on eBay selling them for USA $24.99 + USA Shipping: $3.79, and they are still sealed. Cheaper than what I paid for my copy:

Pizza Oven, if you bake the Promo DVD containing ac3 and mpga for 4 days in an pizza oven at 50 °C you will obtain a DVD with DTS and LPCM.
It's the same technique successfully used at ANATO DVD-A.

I'm pretty sure the glitch on the promo DVD is limited to that particular release.
If you want a clean stand alone copy of the LOML promo (interlaced PAL with LPCM audio) I can upload it and send you a link.

That's funny. The Promo DVD is considered to be that bad? I know the sound is not up to high standards but it beats a VHS IMO. I know this Promo DVD came out 22 years ago which is a long time ago but I have had mine for less than a year. Is the Promo DVD not too popular here among QueenZone forum members? Is it considered substandard or is it still liked by some here?

Other than the small flaw on Love Of My Life and the indexing error for Bohemian Rhapsody, it doesn't sound or look too bad to me.

I don't have any DVD-A discs, but I'm tempted to get the ANATO Anniversary documentary that came out early last decade. It contains videos for all the tracks for that album plus from what I have read here a better quality video version of the "Flames" Bohemian Rhapsody video. Is it a worthy DVD to pick up?

I'm trying to find my VHS dub from laser-disc that I bought in 1992, since I seem to recall the glitch being on that as well. Plus it is missing the video for Bicycle Race. Must be the USA laser-disc that it was dubbed from. When I find it I'll report back.

Thanks for the offer, The Kurgan for a better version of Love Of My Life. It's not that big of a ideal. I already have that video on some other DVDs. This is what I own so far. Some are legit licensed DVDs but a couple are ROIOs but the quality is very good, at least to me.

1. Queen Greatest Flix I & II, Double Sided, Limited Edition, Promo DVD EMI 1997

2. Queen Greatest Flix I & II, 2xVCD PMI 1994

3. Queen Greatest Video Hits 1, 2xDVD Hollywood 2002

4. Queen Greatest Video Hits 2, 2xDVD Hollywood 2003

5. Queen Greatest Video Hits, 2xDVD Eagle Vision 2012

6. Box Of Flix (actually titled Queen Greatest Flix I & II) 1xDVD Bootleg

7. Queen Greatest Hits & Classic Queen 2xDVD Bootleg

8. My 1992 VHS dub from laser-disc of Queen Greatest Flix I & II plus 3 bonus tracks from Box Of Flix, only missing the video for "Now I'm Here." The bonus tracks were most likely sourced from a VHS tape plus no Bicycle Race video.

The aspect ratios for the Greatest Video Hits DVDs are a little bothersome to me to some extent. But for the most part I'm happy with what I have and I have noticed the wonderful restoration work some of you have done here to try and make the videos right as far as their aspect ratios and general presentation. Very impressive!

Is there any other Queen Promo Video DVD compilations that one here would recommend me being on the lookout for or do I have most of what's available from retail except for the rare alternate and unreleased videos that are on YouTube which is just amazing. I never knew these existed.

Thanks everyone for your replies and help.

With the 1992 VHS dub are you referring to a simple copy or a factory made version? I can't remember the order of the bonus tracks on it, but I had 3 or 4 versions and they all cut off at various points during the bonus tracks and were missing a whole song. Like they basically screwed up how much tape they needed on tape 1.
