I couldn't see this mentioned anywhere on QZ but on Jim's Facebook he has a picture of him interviewing Greg Brooks at the last Queen convention (posted 8th October). It says he played some unreleased songs. Has anyone heard about this or know what the songs were?

The problem with the unreleased songs is they're pretty ropey, and they'd take a lot of work to complete if they could be. Love Makin' Love could be completed fairly easily, I guess we're falling out maybe could be (it's boring though), Self Made Man is pretty much there, but apart from Freddie's vocal on the middle 8, it's a fairly terrible song.

Some of the ones from the 70s are interesting like Silver Salmon, and isn't there a Queen version of Polar Bear which again could be very interesting.

There's nothing that would make an impact and hit the charts (i.e. bring them adulation....) but there's a lot that has artistic value. Kind of like recently they found a manuscript of a Mozart piano sonata that was reworked into a final version published during W.A.M's lifetime in the 1780s. The unfinished working version will not be performed in concerts, but it is interesting to have it out there.

Basically on queenzone, when discussing unreleased things and working versions, we're doing the work of musicologists.

Face it alone has great potential, it needs an good producer to edit some of the vocals like Richard did on you don't fool me. Then we will get a big hit Queen song.

Do you think so? I don't really agree with you about Face It Alone but I'm open minded and would love to hear the result.

Yes there is a Queen version of Polar Bear but to be honest I don't like the way Freddie sings it. I prefer Tims vocal version. If I remember it didn't have any backing vocals on it though. It was just a live studio take or something. Someone can correct me on that I'm sure.

Jim Jenkins & The Last Convention sounds like a cool US garage band. The sort you used to see most nights in Tin Pan Alley in the noughties.
