What are people's thoughts on the best book on the band? Got to say ive read a few and Ken Dean's a New Visual Documentary is one of the best. Lots of photo's info etc. As it Began is a bit safe, I actually think Lesley Anne Jones on Fred is good but Rick Sky's was awful.

Queen: The Ultimate Illustrated History of the Crown Kings of Rock by Phil Sutcliffe

/\ Phil Sutcliffe's for me n'all. Fantastic.
Also: 'Queen unseen' by roadie Peter Hince, who gives a great insight from within. ( He's the guy who would hand Freddie his microphone from the side of the piano in case you don't already know )
'Queen the early years' is a very well researched work which is surprisingly good , even if you thought you knew it all.

The amazing 40 Years Of Queen book with lots of goodies inside and a CD.

Hince's is ok but bearing in mind he left to become a professional photographer and apprently always had a camera on him there are remarkably few photos in it. I think As It Began is the only other one I've read but as its official it is just a diary of things they did rather than insight.

I haven’t read this, but everyone says that the Leslie Anne Jones book has a lot of inaccuracies like about Barbara Valentin and Freddie being an item. Maybe others have insight in this as well.

Uh Oh ... for your own safety ... please take cover and cover your head ... and for god's sake do not mention this in Thor's topic.

LOL

I too agree. The New Visual documentary presented by Ken Deans is really excellent. latest agriculture technology I watched it once and it is really illuminating. I liked it very much. It was really one of the good documentaries I've ever seen.
