. . . . Metallica was a record company decision and G nR was friends of Brian and Roger, also Queen fans.

The Tribute was beautiful goodbye and honored Freddie as artists and human.
Metallica were there as genuine Queen fans. Lars had mentioned their albums in interviews several years before 1992. They had also recorded their version of Stone Cold Crazy and had been playing it, on and off, for a number of years.
Same as Extreme. I remember interviews in 1991 where Gary and Nuno said they were huge Queen fans.

All four of the bands in the rock section were big fans of 70s Queen but it’s doubtful if Freddie would have been that interested . However he did go on record in that late 80s interview with Mike Read saying he liked Robert Plant and George Michael. There was Hollywood glamour and Broadway kitsch in the form of Elizabeth Taylor and Liza Minnelli respectively. Elton John was a personal friend. You can’t say anything negative about the industry status of Roger Daltrey and David Bowie. All in all a mixed bag but a lot had some value to add. I can only think of Zucchero, Lisa Stansfield and Seal as being totally pointless.

God..

Seal was terrible. The song was just so out of his range. ...and this was well before people were interested in changing arrangements and not just the key.

Thanks for the reminder.
I've still never seen the entire broadcast

@The Fairy King If you read plenty of books on Queen and Freddie it is well documented that Mercury stated if he ever met Axl Rose he would spit in his face and i remember Brian May telling that story too.
You see when Axl was young stupid and ignorant he was also homophobic and Freddie was his main target to attack, but in later years after Fred died Axl changed his opinions around and declared Freddie was an amazing vocalist and musician.
I think Brian had invited him over to the Freddie tribute concert to let him know there was no more hard feelings.
Oh, so is that why Axl narrated the Queen documentary in 1991 BEFORE Freddie died??

only the true Gerry would be so incomprehensible as to have to clarify who he was referring to.

this must be (at least) your 8th username since arriving here. why don't you just change your ID to "what'shisname" and be done with it?

My brother recorded that documentary back in the day. Pretty sure he still has it around somewhere. One of the better ones.
At one point I used to think Axl was a homophobic piece of shit. I changed my mind about that. I think anyone could tell how much Axl loved Freddie during the tribute. And it says a.other that he was invited to perform and with Elton John...I don't think there was any hard feelings.

We The Circle of Eidolon have noticed this latest name change and it has brought about a question.

What is he 100% of? Mr 100% you can't be 100% you have to be a percentage of something, or as you've named yourself 100% you must be 100% of nothing.

This Mr 100% would mean you ad up to nothing. Some would say this is indeed fitting, but maybe you could enlighten the world and explain what you are 100% of.

We The Circle of Eidolon would like to learn

Do not hesitate to enlighten those who wish to learn. The Circle of Eidolon has spoken.

Allthough I personally would have loved to see Billy Squire on the stage on that day.
He was on the stage for the We Are The Champions singalong.
