Freddie contributed nearly 30 songs to the first five albums. While he obviously wrote the biggest hits in that period it’s a little spurious to suggest he wasn’t the main overall contributor to the early albums or kind of imply that hits are simple and album tracks are mature.

I think you've maybe taken my post out of context. I've said that Freddie had a good feel for writing hit singles, but I also said about his ability as a storyteller.

I wasn't referring to Brian as "more grown up" - more that his songs had matured through a longer development period. As I said
Brighton Rock
Son & Daughter
Doin' Alright
and White Queen were all several years old (in one form or another) by the time they appeared on Queen albums.

That just highlights how much Freddie exploded out of seemingly nowhere. But must have been carrying a lot inside.Of those Brian song examples that’s one great, one good, and two average at best. So if he did have more writing experience ,Brian took longer to produce less.
Queen II could have a Brian full side one if he had the tunes, but he faded out with Some Day, One Day. That sounds like it’s Smile esque. Procession through to White Queen sounds like Queen.

I think I'd have preferred Side White with
Some Day, One Day removed and replaced with
See What A Fool I've Been

Right, I've mixed this into a complete album - running time 48:23

BLACKER
Seven Seas of Rhye (instrumental)
Liar
Fairy Feller's Masterstroke
Nevermore
March of the Black Queen
Funny How Love Is
Seven Seas of Rhye

BLACKER STILL
In The Lap of the Gods
Great King Rat
Killer Queen
Flick of the Wrist
Lily of the Valley
My Fairy King
In The Lap of the Gods...revisited

I'm actually quite pleased with some of the segues/splices - one or two worked out really well. Playlist is called "Fred I"

Anyhow, it's on my Archos 5 for my Morocco trip - along with a playlist of Freddie- written songs from Opera-Game
and another of Roger/John songs.

I don't get why compiling playlists is a bad thing?
and anyway, hearing those songs in this way works quite nicely - esp through in-ear sennheisers.

No. what "tosses my salad" is being able to deal with Geraldine from as remote a location as possible. It's really nice to be constantly neck-high in all-inclusive spirits - allowing for dealing with the sub-intelligence that is "Geraldine", once already three-sheets-to-the-wind.

Agaidir, Morocco - for Christmas, really works...as does 23-29 degrees of sunshine.
