Hello everybody! I'm just looking for a bit of advice from anyone who has experience in transferring VHS tapes. I'm looking for the best method which allows me to transfer the tapes in uncompressed quality. My current method is using a VHS to DVD Recorder, which of course introduces MPEG-2 artefacts. I'll attach a photo of the outputs on my machine so you can get an idea of what I should possibly use. I've looked on many sites, all of which recommend different products and methods, such as using a Component/Composite to HDMI upscaler and then using an HDMI Capture card. Others say just using a Component to HDMI Capture card. I'm just looking for a cheap but effective way of transferring my VHS tapes without introducing any artefacts or anything, just the uncompressed analogue signal. -Chin

Years ago a used a Software named: Pinnacle Studio 9 for Transfer, cutting, and disk menues (today you get Version 23). In the package was a Hardware box with usb for the pc and cinch/s-vhs connector for the vhs-recorder. Time for the creating in the best possible Video for a 8,5GB DVD was 5 Hours. So I rescued my whole queen tapes to disks.

But on the HDD was left the whole movie.

Today you will find video-grabber for 30€, usb to cinch. When the vhs-recorder has an s-vhs-Output, use it, because of the better Signal.

Perhaps you can try a demo of a cutting-software before buying it.
