Just a small question: Are the videos on the DVD that comes with this release going to be the same cropped versions from 2003, or are they going to be proper 4:3 versions with a smaller amount of over-saturation? (see the 1080p Bohemian Rhapsody video on YouTube for what I mean)
As this is a cheapo release you will get the same ol

It would be interesting if they would play the greatest hits live in Japan including MOTBQ

Very interesting. I would be happy, if they played the Top 20 (or at least top 12) in the upcoming QAL tours. :)

„Spread your Wings“ was dearly missed, when they dropped it after only 8 concerts during the 2017 US Tour.

The only songs they haven’t played are „Good old fashioned Lover Boy“ and „March of the Black Queen“. The first one has been on Adam’s Queen playlist on Spotify last year and was therefore already rumored to make an appearance in the set of 2019. So quite possible, I would say. MotbQ is one of my all times favorites. Maybe they could play it as part of a medley like 1975. But I won’t be too positive about that. The appearance of Innuendo as opener had already been a great surprise!

Kerching!!!! No BluRay for the Japanese so it'll be grainy videos, Queen are so behind in terms of still no Greatest hits on BluRay. Fans can knock their own cd playlists up these days I bet they're glad We Will Rock You is not on Brian will be pissed ha. Same o'l shite. Just my personal opinion.
Why would Brian be pissed at We Will Rock You not being there. It's not a competition and I'm pretty sure he doesn't view it as such.

Of course in your rush to rubbish this release, and Brian, you haven't noticed Teo Torriatte is hi on the list, the song means more in Japan than We Will Rock You and it meant enough for Brian to have written it for those fans.

"Same ol shite" not really. It's compilation with some interesting inclusions, unless you're not a Queen fan and don't like anything they produced.
Sad fansheep. Brian May could release a ihr fartfest and you d praise it you sad moron
Brian's not releasing anything. It's a band (Queen) release of material you claim to be a fan of.

Sad moron? That would be you. . . . Don't be late for your therapy appointment.

To be fair that’s an eclectic mix for a compilation. Plenty of hardcore fan favourites. No WWRY in the top 40?
I‘m not that surprised about WWRY. It’s always fantastic live, when your standing in a big crowd. But at home listening to it on a record?

Back around 1981 when I really started getting into Queen I put on my brother's NotW LP and WWRY leading into Champions was a special moment. Really blew me away. Maybe mp3 players don't do it justice these days.

Maybe. I use to listen to it on my rather new vinyl though. The sound is great, but I really prefer it live and other songs on record.

It’s pretty much designed for live so no doubts there.
But the record is sensational. The crispness of the handclap, the acoustics of the raw and primal beat, harmonious chanted chorus and the slow build up of the guitar are somewhat lost in the live version.
Whether you prefer live or recorded it’s interesting Japan have overlooked it when the rest of the world has it near the top. Half a billion Spotify hits, 370 million YouTube hits, featured in countless adverts and played in stadiums all over Europe /US.

Maybe everyone just thought, that WWRY doesn’t even need to be mentioned, because everyone else would choose it. Sometimes that’s the only reason, why clear choices don’t get enough votes. Or Japanese fans don’t like it. That would be interesting to know.

Maybe those giant stomps remind Japanese fans of their nemesis, Godzilla, and that's why they didn't vote for it.

Looks like they didn't make the end of Black Queen a bit tidier. But listening now it's actually a nice selection. Well done.

Yes, Markman38...it would be cool if they played those songs live and recorded them, then released it as a 2 record set. One side original Queen and one side Q + today’s band + AL, I would be interested in hearing that! I know the purists would disagree but I think having both would be an interesting compare/contrast exercise.I’m not really looking for the contrast in singers (which is obvious), but the current band musicians interpreting the songs, and the maturity of Roger and Brian applied to the arrangements. It won’t ever happen I’m sure, but it would stir some conversation!
Love is still the answer, take my hand...

The DVD menu is a static image that follows the motif on the CD cover, with no music or animation. Teo Torriatte, The Show Must Go On, '39, March of the Black Queen, and Keep Yourself Alive videos are 4:3.

The CD booklet has blurbs by a Japanese music critic, Japanese record executive, and some basic info about each song, as well as lyrics in Japanese and English. There is a picture of the Japanese garden at Freddie's house, as well as a first-hand account by one of the workers who built the garden.

There is also a photo that was used on the original Greatest Hits cover, and another group shot that could have been taken anywhere in the world. There are no pictures of the group in Japan, which is odd.
