I'm always interested in what books and authors that other people like. If you have any favorites, post them here.
My favorite authors are
Wally Lamb
Barbara Delinsky
Kristen Hannah
Lisa Genova
Sue Monk Kidd
Lori Lansens
Barbara Kingslover...

I could go on and on about my favorite books and authors. My favorite books I read last year was Rush Home Road by Lori Lansens and Firefly Lane by Kristen Hannah. So much more than "chick lit" books, I promise.

Douglas Adams - I've re-read all of his books at least half-dozen times each. The Dirk Gently series were incredible.
My guilty pleasure would be Grisham's stuff...easy reading with nice twists.
James Joyce - difficult style to follow, and (disappointingly) he's not written much lately :-)
Herbert George Wells - the original (and IMO, best) sci-fi/thriller writer.

My roots are also responsible for my appreciation of Irish writers; Wilde, Shaw, Swift, Yeats and Stoker...not forgetting (from Irish roots) Mary Shelley. Some great writers, there.
Herman Melville's Moby Dick is one my favourite allegoric tales.

And (dipping into only, never tried reading through at once), Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress, Milton's Paradise Lost, Thomas More's Utopia and Alighieri's Divine Comedy - all very heavy going, but good nonetheless.
Also worth mentioning, Stevenson, Scott and Verne.

Most of my tastes tend to be classic/contemporary that predate the first world war. There's still so many form that classic period that I've yet to read.

Here's a scary fact: Even if we read a complete book every day of our lives, in an 80-yr lifetime, we'd not scratch the surface of all of the good books ever written.

I need to read Mark Twain again, I did years ago.
Never did get into Harry Potter books, and I couldn't finish Casual Vacancy.
Most of my books are in storage sadly. I don't read as much as I once did.

Diana Gabaldon
Kathy Reichs
JK Rowling / Robert Galbraith
Dan Brown
Simon Beckett
Sebastian Fitzek
C.J. Sansom
Charlotte Link
Tamora Pierce
JRR Tolkien
Steven King
Karl May
Alexandre Dumas
Jack London

and many more. But I think I‘ve read almost all books these authors have published. And I liked them. (excluding some by Steven King, who has too many and they aren’t all to my taste).
