What is Brian playing here? (Essen 80 Guitar Solo)

at about 7:57 on the video linked above, Brian starts this little thing which at first only sounds like mindless noodling (pretty stuff, but nothing out of the ordinary), but it soon becomes something that seems to take form of some sort. Is this an actual song that he's playing or is this just on the spot type stuff?

sounds like he was playing his way out of his solo piece and into Battle Theme/The Hero from Flash Gordon.
wasn't that how his solo piece usually ended around 1980?

is this the one with the voice-crack at the opening lines of The Hero?

and Holly wasn't too far out with the Lynyrd Skynrd post (joking or otherwise)...there's some parts in the very similar to Simple Man

I have watched the solo guitar performance of the Legend from the link you have provided here. I was so happy and excited to see this performance. His talent as a guitarist is clearly seen in the performance. Do share more his performance videos. check my reference
