Queen's best two albums from the 1980's were arguably The Game & The Works, but which one is your favourite and why?
Personally i think The Works just gets over the line as the best album of the 1980's because of the variety of music on that album and it just flowed very well together with hit singles from every band member .

Roger - Radio Gaga
John - I want to break free
Freddie - It's a hard Life
Brian - Hammer to Fall.
All brilliant tracks plus Tear it up , Machines , Keep on Passing the open windows etc....... 10 /10.
I would however give "The Game" 9/10.

The Game.

Different and consistent new sound at that point. Actually unusual due to the more narrow range of styles.

Guitar on Dragon Attack is way better than Tear it Up and Hammer to Fall.
Play The Game is a bit better than Its A Hard Life
The emotion on Sail Away Sweet Sister and Save Me is stronger than anything on The Works.
It’s the last album with proper lead vocals from Roger and Brian .

Freddie vocals at the start of Prime Jive are awesome.

The Game. What Alba says.

The Game, by far.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

I think The Game it's overall a better album but It's A Hard Life is the best song.

The Game by far, no contest etc ... ditto

Of the fifteen 20th century Queen studio albums, I rank the Game as #7 and The Works as #12.

I am ignoring the 16th studio album, as well as the forthcoming 17th studio album rumoured to be titled "God's Gift".

Interesting views thanks everyone for your opinions.
I actually was going to say The Game because i love that album but its Queen in there comfort zone so i chose The Works because the songs seem richer and more polished.
The guitar work on "Keep on passing the open windows" is superb and Freddie's vocals on " I want to break free" are on fire!
But after saying all that both albums beat any other Queen album in the 80's by miles.
A Kind Of Magic, The Miracle and Innuendo lacked interest and catchy tunes as massive as what The Game or The Works had to offer.

My Queen's favorite album of the 80's was/is/will be THE MIRACLE.
THE GAME is a rather commercial album. THE WORKS (along with AKOM) is too short.

The Game for me....The only song I'm not crazy about Is Suicide. The Works has 3 songs I skip, Tear It Up, Man On The Prowl, Machines. Dragon Attack rules!
