... and i don't know what to think... sure, it's heavy and dark, but... sometimes they seem to loose plot IMO...Like "This Dying Soul", first 5-6 minutes is excellent, then... Same with "Endless Sacrifice"...after solos it's bit too much... Thank God for "As I Am"- already one of their best songs ever. And the instrumental is great!!! And so is "In The name Of God". And solos in "Honour Thy Father".

All in all, I expected a little bit more. They went heavy, but lost melody sometimes. And IMO LaBrie was in better form on "Scenes From A Memory" and "Six Degrees...". Don't really like when he sings through vocoder. And he does it a lot here...

Still better than anything else released this year!!!!!!! Long live DT!!

I'm listening for the first time right now, and must say I do like it. Heavy songs, which are based on some bloody good rifs. However, I must say I'm not really enjoying the vocals too much. They don't really sound to clear. A bit too much to the back ground. But overall, I love this album.

I think that Train Of Thought is another amazing masterpiece. I always wanted Dream Theater to play really hard. And they do it on this album. James Labrie sounds great to me.

I've listened to it another 100 times and now I think it's absolutely brilliant!!! It needs some time, though, to be fully enjoyed... Still "Scenes From A Memory" is better, but then- can you record anything better...?

Funny thing, though... the album sounds better on my discman rather than on my hi-fi.... Whereas it was always other way round.... Strange....

Dream Theater are certainly the best band in existence at the moment, and I doubt anyone will exceed them in the near future.

As for the new album, I think I need a few more listens to really it in properly. Of course, on my first listen I immediately loved As I Am, Stream Of Consciousness and In The Name Of God. The rest will take a bit of time to really appreciate. SoC is a superb instrumental, but I don't think I can put it up there with Hell's Kitchen and Erotomania just yet.

The album is indeed very heavy, but I like it. I just wish Petrucci would have done a bit more melodic guitar soloing, like he did on Scenes and Six Degrees. We all know you can play fast John, so do something a little more creative next time!

I agree that you probably can't get anything better than Scenes From A Memory, from any band. That album is a masterpiece... far better than anything Queen ever did, for sure.

All you peeps into prog rock... get into this discussion!

<> I'm just listening to it right now... Everyone saying it's a technical playing has to be deaf...

Well, it *is* technical... but it's so much more than technical. It's perfection.
