Having just listened to the whole soundtrack cd by Brian, I think its very good - very different from what you might expect from Brian.
What do you guys think?

It's normal that is quite repetitive being a soundtrack where the theme often appears.Anyway it's a great work, and Brian was very very inspired!!

Great soundtrack, especially the Dream Of Thee Theme played on the Red Special with the Greg Fryer booster... And yes, also quite inspired. I have not seen the movie yet though.

I've always jibbed at getting this due to the perceived lack of guitar. Is the guitar quite good in it?

Are you talking about just the theme, or the whole thing? The album as a whole doesn't have too much guitar, and I find that a bit disappointing, being as Brian is primarily a guitarist.

The repetitiveness makes it the least desirable Queen related release. I Dream of Thee is a great song, but after listening to the first 30 minutes of Furia in my car today, I can't get the cursed melody out of my head.

I agree that the repetition is too evident. It generally has good material, but the repetition shouldn't be quite so noticeable. It's INTENTIONAL, I think, because it's one of the best ways to "unify" a movie's score - to constantly reinterpret/revisit a handful of musical themes throughout the movie gives the moviegoer a sense of cohesion. But the reinterpretations aren't quite artful enough, I don't think, and therefore we hear them as repetitious... Pulling a couple of the better tracks off the CD onto a best-of compilation works for me (as opposed to listening to the whole thing through in a sitting).

Don't care so much about it

After reading this thread, I went back to playing FURIA for the first time in a while. And I noticed, for the first time, that Brian thanks Roger's ex, Dominique, in the liner notes... Interesting....Did she help him with some of the translations or something?

Just got this and listened to it - not bad! Different. Isn't that melody snatched from the Stella advert though?! :-)

The theme is indeed quite nice.....the first time. But the sixhundred and seventh time, after you heard it played with vocals with words, without words, hummed, whistled, played by the violin, after his daughter, grandma and neighbour sang it, his dog barked it and the guitar (with his wheepy sound i hate)played it-i had the urge to burn the damn cd.
do doooo do do do do do dooooo (on the melody of the theme)
