In the latest issue of Q magazine thay have a feature entitled the 1,001 greatest songs of all time. This poll has been voted for by Critics and some minor celebrities - Who clearly know fuck all about good music.
Queen had only 3 songs in the list,
Bohemian Rhapsody at 458
Flash at 730
and Killer Queen at 780
Above these Queen songs are memorable tracks by the likes of Wu Tang Clan, Britney Spears and So Solid Crew.
The Sun's column 'Bizarre' have dismissed this list as it is compiled by critics and want the readers of Bizarre to send in their top 5 songs of all time. It would be great if we could get a couple of Queen songs high up on the list to prove those muppets at Q magazine wrong.

Why should Der Sun's list be any more relevant the Q's.
Personally I never needed my taste in music validated by anyone. Let alone knuckle-dragging Sun readers.

Flash is in there as "second most funny song"
U2 won, surprisingly. Radiohead well placed, usual Q favourites showing. Apparently Brian May said Killer Queen "is about a high class call girl. I'm trying to say that classy people can be whores too". Quality research there...

Why worry !
Look back at back issues of Q magazine and u will cringe at some of the results of their previous pools, Suede, Blur, Oasis and another 100 brit pop bands were once their darlings and topped their polls. Quality stands the test of time

LOL
So which song was voted the top of 1001 great songs? Better not be Smells Like Teen Spirit.

lol!

I did say that U2 won. The song was "One".
Teen spirit was top ten, I think though

Was my song in there? Jam of Screaming Gibbons?
I don't trust this compilations. A lot of them are written by people who have had labotomies.

Q is the British "Rolling Stone".
So don't expect to hear anything nice about Queen. Especially when a song like "Bohemian Rhapsody" that has countless times been named "Best Song Ever"... is now number 458.
These are the same guys who praised U2 when their careers were going down the hill in the 90s and their albums (except for "Achtung Baby") tanked.

How can setting the record for most countries with a number 1 album be considered "tanking"?
POP and Zooropa are multi-platinum and the tours were massive. They may not have been as big as they were with Achtung Baby or Joshua Tree, but weren't in the gutter as you seem to imply.

Who cares what anyone thinks as long as you like the song? I love Ogre Battle and I love MMMbop by Hanson. It's got great harmonies and is a good tune, I don't give a flying fig about anyone caring that it's by a boy band. What cracks me up about surveys of this size is how much thought goes into the lower numbers. What did Bohemian Rhapsody lack that the #457 song had, and what did it have that the #459 song lacked? I can imagine the discussions were intense deciding those positions.

That's true. There won't eb a single person in the world who agrees entirely with that list. That's why I think those lists are silly - music's too subjective for that.
