Just saw the first movie of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It was much better than I expected it to be. There was still something that made me laugh all through the movie.
There were names like Frodo, Gandalaf and all those names that only geeks can remember ;-) and then there was this hobbit called Sam! Why the hell call him Sam?

poor baby. You just don't understand. Tolkien knew what he was about. His name was Samwise by the way. So it was just as cool as the others.

For me, the 2nd best movie ever! PArt 2 is better IMO. I guess things will shift a bit when part 3, the final part, is out.
