What is this misunderstanding about Mr. Roboto? Why do so many tend to think this is a Queen song?

I was wondering the same thing Silje dear! Odd eh?

Do you guys know Audio Galaxy? It's dead now, but while alive, it was the best file sharing program ever. Anyway, on AG the song MR. Roboto was often credited as a Queen song. It also has this Radio Ga Ga-ish feel, so people (not the die hard fans) must have assumed that it's by Queen.

It started in Napster even before AG. Someone may have mistakenly or on purpose name the song as Queen instead of Styxx. And that's how the 'legend' lives on.

Thank you guys!
That explains, really. I talked to someone when I was merely a newbie on here, and he told me to download Mr. Roboto on Audio Galaxy. As a matter of fact, he credited it as his favourite Queen song. I thought it was strange that I had never heard of it before, but I decided it had to be either something from a solo album, or a bootleg. Well, he found out himself that he was wrong soon after. So now when I realised he was not alone on mistaking it for a Queen song, I couldn't help wondering why.
Thanks for explaining. :-)

Also, the robot "masks" on the cover of Styx "Kilroy Was Here" album are quite close to the ones seen in the "Calling All Girls" video.

lol, you're so right! I always confused myself in the beginning - finding the Sheer Heart Attack CD when really I wanted to listen to the song.

"Guy is coordinating the remaster of 'Queen' and notices it contains 'Seven Seas of Rhye' so he quickly adds the lyrics and single covers to the artwork.."
Aha, you must have the Hollywood Records reissue.
Also, paging ogre t raylot for an acerbic remark about Queen's "new" frontmen.
