"why do people slag it off when they havn't even seen it"

I think people don't criticize the musical itself, they (me included) criticize the extremely heavy advertising of it.

I haven't seen it at the theatre, however I watched about half of it on video at the convention and my original expectation that it was a cover band nailed to a plot was confirmed.

Except for the plot. I couldn't see one. I heard some old jokes, each of which had an entirely predicatble punchline.

So, I don't like it on grounds of
1. it's low level of entertainment
2. disproportionate amount of time, energy and promotion that is lavished upon it

Now, I understand some of you like it. Fair enough. Enjoy. Just don't ask me to, expect me to, or criticise me for not liking it.

Finally (you wish!), don't use the "millions of people have seen it, they can't all be wrong" line. Millions of people...

I wonder whether they are having the same discussions on the Abba, Rod Stewart & Madness boards?

For some people what ever happens in the name of Queen now will not live up to the glory days and that is fair enough. I went I clapped, I cryed and I had a bloody good nights entertainment enjoying the music of my favourite band - It was quite breathtaking. My kids who are far too young to have ever seen Queen really enjoyed it too so if its introducing the music to a whole new audience then that can't be too bad can it!

So what you're saying is that it cost you £60 and a trip to the theatre to get your kids to listen to Queen music, and even then it was sung by someone other than Freddie?

Wouldn't one evening with GH1 & 2 have done the trick?

The musical is far more interactive and spontanious than watching a DVD. Oh the wife came as well so it cost us £80 about the same as if 2 of us had gone to watch a Premier League game on a Saturday! I'd say WWRY is excellent value for money - but only having seen it on video you wouldn't have sampled the atmosphere would you. If you go expecting or wanting a Queen Concert of course you would be disappointed take it for what it is and enjoy it for what it is an excellent night out

I've seen the musical at the Dominian and I must admit it was a good night out, what more can you ask for? But I agree that all this advertisting of it on the Queen DVD's is a bit too much.
Guess who's back?

£40 a ticket to the Premier League? Another Chelsea fan, I see.

If I went to the musical, I would have been expecting a cover band with a plot. "Atmosphere" is provided by a theatre full of people laughing at crap jokes and applauding crap renditions of good songs.

Sorry, I remain unconvinced. I bet you're surprised...

I used my £20 ticket offer to go last night. It was absolutely amazing and the place was packed to the rafters.
That doesn't smack of desperation to me.
I can;t wasit to go again, which I would not be able to do were it not for the ticket offer, and the same goes for my five friends who have been converted to Queenism as a result of the trip.

Rich Tea, which team charges £7.50 to park? With more and more clubs redeveloping out of town, this should be on the decline.

Southampton,
Bolton
Boro
Leiecester,
Man City

all new stadiums.

Newcastle fans all walk naked to the ground from the city centre, Leeds' ground is out of town anyway,

Liverpool, Everton, Utd, Villa don't charge that much.

I'm thinking yours must be a London club. In which case couldn't you take the tube?

I'm not having a pop, btw, I'm curious as to who gets away with ripping off their own customers like this.
