It is!
Funny enough, though, the best song on it (DRAGON ATTACK) is actually UNDERRATED...

On the whole, I would say the album is UNDERRATED. You have the songs everyone knows, "Crazy Little Thing" and "Bites The Dust", then the lesser known hits, "Play The Game" and "Save Me", then some of the album tracks that are too often overlooked like "Dragon Attack", and one I think is criminally overlooked "Sail Away Sweet Sister".

Overrated indeed, although I quite like it in general it just is not nearly as good as other Queen stuff... It doesn't deserve to be the hottest selling Queen album in the US ever... There are quite some okay songs, one or two realy good ones, but also some of the worst things Queen ever made...
(IMO)

i think it is one the the best queen albums, it has a jazzistic groove and the songs are very different each others; it takes a lot of styles and queen play very musically and funny; freddie's voice is at the best period and the band seems to be supported by a great enthusiasm

the ONLY shitty thing about the game is how short it is compared to previous stuff
MY GOD spell it write.

I don't think it's overrated at all. AOBTD, CLTCL, Save Me and Play The Game are great songs and Dragon Attack is nice too.

not overrated, but too short, and DA is way underrated :)

Whaaaat? None of their albums were, overrated. I think 'Rock it' and 'Don't try suicide' were very underrated songs. But maybe the title, don't try suicide was a bit worrying.

I honestly think it is a bit overrated, I think that News of the world or Jazz are better than it.
The reason because it was reissued so many times (dvd audio, audiophile vinyl, etc) is because it was one of their best sellers

The Game was a breath of fresh air!
I think Queen always surprised people with the variations in their albums. Queen & Queen II could have been a completely different band. At the time my hard rockin mates had already decided that ANATO was Queens sell out album although personnally I thought SHA was a move into a more commercial feel. I think the Game shows Freddie & John moving to a more American sound while Brian is still clinging to the Rock feel.
Problem with the Game is Don't try Suicide & AOBTD pinch riffs from The Police & Chic respectivly.
Over rated well at the time here in the UK like all Queen albums (with the noteable exception of NOTW) it was slated and not rated at all. Their isn't a definitive best album we will argue about that one for years but the Game does have some brilliant tracks on it Sail Away Sweet Sister, Dragon Attack & Save Me which would all appear in my Queen top 20.
The DVDA is pretty awesome and I guess it was the real big album for Queen in the US just a shame they took it so seriously and recorded the Game II (sorry Hot Space) which unfortunatly wasn't quite as spotanious. I very nealy lost interest myself in 82 it was a good job the shows were so good!

The Game Overrated??

I always though it was underrated compared to the older stuff. the appeal lies in its simplicity, its one of the best queen lp's for driving to, esp prime jive, coming soon, need your loving tonight, the whole lp just works for me, and save me is fab.:o)i like every song on it, sure its short, but now that i've lived with it for 20 odd years, i kinda got used to it..;o)
