Here we go again... I am not against the bible, I am just against the way some people interpret it and try to push people to interpret it in that same way. I am not religious nor spiritual, I do know the bible and I am sure that if there is a God this is not what he ment. If there is a God and this IS his point of view then I will refuse to respect him. Then he will not be nor ever become 'my' God. I will never follow a God or a representative of his that is about non-equality. I will never believe in a God that is about non-equality. And then something else: NOBODY choses to be gay. I did not chose to fall in love with another guy, neither does any gay person. If there is a God in the sence of what most religious people believe the bible describes, that would mean it is also God's will for somebody to be gay. In other words: if that were true God creates sinners himself. Now why would a God give birth to a son which he wants to grow up a sinner and knows he will be a sinner and at day of judgement punish him. Or does father just have tests for his sons, just make them a sinner and see if he can cure them again. I'm sorry, but it just does not make any sense. *sigh* we are talking religion again... That can't realy be done properly through a noticeboard. Too many ins, outs, buts, ifs etc. Anyway, I felt like I had to contribute at least the words above. The bible-based gay-discussion is one of the most revolting themes there is. I'm getting sick and tired with all the bullshit...
If I need to burn in hell because I had sex with other men, then may lightning strike me.
Fallen Angel, I respect you because you represent your own opinion even in an envirement (so I recon from your words) in which that opinion is dangerous. Good luck to you and if you need a place to stay... ;-)

Chill Wiiiiinstaaaans!
**love that sayin**
Memba this one true fact. . .
bible was made not by god but by a man,
maybe the upmost humblest messenjah of God, (Paul Burrel lol)
But a man have his own views, and never judge a religion by its ruling from the BioliclyKoranical way of the poor sad sod that really wanna express his greatest achievement of being a number 1 author.
I think religion is freedom, there is alot of human things in bibles that makes me laugh, (human as in orders) that is so human, cos it is human written by our own being.
Neva get a against a faith through a freakin bible, is like getting against Mich.Jax thru the Newspapers, you are all missing the truth the reality is greater than the scandal, why put it down its a cheapshot.

I don't know what to think either... I believe in God, but I also believe in homosexuality. what to choose? hmmm.
well, if gays are born, then how come there are still gays? shouldn't they not be here because they can't have babies?
but i will always believe in God and will not be against gays :)

last night i had a dream about my grandma's on xmas eve and we were just resting (and some eating the rest of the food :-P) and my uncle didn't know that i was in the kitchen and he thought i was downstairs, and then i heard him say, "i knew she'd turn out wrong the minute you put her in public school mary jane! and now she's trying to spread it to everybody else!" so i ran to the bedroom, got my coat on, ran out into the living room, looked at my uncle and told him i hated him and i said, "im gonna go to a friend's house where i'm actually appreciated for who i am and what i believe in, gute nacht, and fickin du" (or however you say fuck you in german) and slammed the door and walked about 3 miles to my friend's house and my mom didn't come get me till the next day.
reminder, this was just a dream.

you had a dream about it?
sad... looks like this is causing you lots of worries.
keep your opinions, no-one should tell you what to think and your family ought to support you! people have different opinions, if they can't deal with that they still shouldn't make you feel bad.
Be yourself! :)

Having met your mom, Nina, I'm rather surprised by that.
It might be possible to apologize WITHOUT apologizing for the content of the outburst.
Apologize for sending the e-mail (I presume that you wish you only sent the e-mail to your cousin and no one else)
Apologize for upsetting the whole family (you probably did not want to stir up this hornet's nest)
Perhaps apologize for embarrassing your mother and immediate family.
and add any other apology that does not compromise your principles ...
Hopefully the crisis will blow over soon.
By the way, My folks and my wife still love me even though I do not believe in god (although they pity me and worry for my "soul").
Hopefully your family will get over the outburst and love you for who you are.
I meant to reply last night but Queenzone "froze?" at about 10:45 last night so I had to sign off.

Oh well, thought I might help.
I probably wouldn't apologize either. Who wants to apologize when an apology is demanded? ... and apologies are rarely sincere when forced by demands, so why would anyone demand an apology? Demanding an apology is a no win situation for anyone.

People take the bible so literally.
Is it likely that so many people would have implicit faith in Christ, a figure representing UNCONDITIONAL love and forgiveness, if they thought he would condemn someone to eternal damnation if they were gay?
Once again, Christ represents unconditional love, which means that a person will be accepted and loved by Jesus despite their sins. Couple that with the fact that nowhere does it actually state, as fact, in the bible that homosexuality is a sin (although some parts of the Bible may be interperated as suggesting this, but then the Bible can be seen to suggest anything if you want it to) and the thought that a person is automatically sinful and damned seems ludicrous.
In my opinion, as long as you do not harm your fellow beings (physically, mentally or whatever) and you do not detract from the greater good of the world, then you are not sinning.
In the Bible it seems that sins are classified as things that you DO (actions) rather than someothing you ARE (your state). It says in the Bible that God, although he created the world and humans, gave the humans free will (although this could be seen as an excuse for the question 'if God is so powerful, how come bad things happen?'), and so relinquished control of a person's state of mind and heart. Being gay does not harm anyone, so it is hardle a big sin. Would it not be a bigger sin for a person to waste their life in unhappiness becasue they tried to conform to a 'rule' which they incorrectly thorught was an order from God?
By relinquishing control, God gave humans the right to choose what to do with their lives. People have the right to exercise their freedom (within reason and without harming others, because that would be an infringement on THEIR freedom).
If there is a God, I doubt he/she feels genuinly insulted that there are gay people walking around on earth.
It is clearly NOT Christian, however, to insult your fellow beings by telling them they are 'unnatural'.
Slighly off the topic, I once asked a Deacon (the king who workd in a church) if she thought anyone deserved to go to hell, and she said if God sent people to hell, than she didn't want to be christian.
Thats a pretty big risk, isn't it?
Sorry for crazy mixed up post.

i was thinking about it last night, and wouldn't gay marriages go under the freedom of religion category? this country supposedly has freedom of religion, press, and speech, yet there are still the ten commandments posted everywhere like in courthouses and other public places and gay marriages still have to be fought for!
does anybody else think that's just so wrong too?
