Just read a good book over the weekend which basically pointed out the extravagances of Christmas. If you kept all the money you spend on pressies, decorations, booze, food, more booze, cards and travelling you could have a holiday in the sun somewhere.
Personally I think Christmas is great but I bet there is somebody out there who agrees.
