This can also apply to China. One woman could not pronounce my boss's last name properly, and so a fellow engineer kept asking her to repeat it.
My boss's last name is Eriksen, and she pronounced it "Erik-Shun".
Also, it was a cold winter and the woman wore snow pants, and constantly complained about her "hot panties".
Unfortunately, I was not on that trip and did not get to witness the spectacle.

This puts me in mind of the time I was in a Chinese restaurant and I informed the staff that my Kung Po Chicken was rubbery.

I used to get those kind of people all the time when I used to work at McDonald's downtown Edmonton City Centre. I could barely understand a good number of Asian customers I had.
