Oh lol... For some reason I find "If You Can't Beat Them" so amusing... I love the vocal style Freddie employs in this song... very energetic and clean. The lyric's so cheerful too, typical John. Looks like I'm getting used to my "former" less favourite songs.

Very underrated song.
Very underrated song.
One of my absolute favorite Queen lyrics: "Rumor has it that you can play dirty, I'll tell you what I'll do about that....I'm playing at the wrong game!"
Great song, 1 of my fav from the Jazz album :D
Isn't it "I'll play them at their own game"?
It is.
Good song, especially live
indeed, great song, if you can't beat them, join them
Yep, Deaky really outdid himself on that one! Very enjoyable -- then again, so's the whole album! (My personal favourite!)
lol thanks guys! i've been listening to it for over 14 years and always thought it was "i'm playing at the wrong game!" i like this lyric too, though...thanks again...maybe i could hear it better if i didn't have my head up my ass! lol regardless, great song, and very good live, although it can be hard to track down..a shame they didn't include IYCBT, STL, FBG, and It's Late on Live Killers.
Yes they were't included on live Killers because of the restrictions on Vinyl size however they could have corrected this for the CD release that would have been a nice touch.
I remember in 79 Live Killers was originally going to be a triple album containing the whole set from the european tour unfortunatly they changed there minds!

I always had trouble understanding the lyrics on that one. Freddie sings it in a very unique way I think.
Like the way he says "pee-ee-laying" for 'playing'. I used to think it was something like "I'll see you later"
It's also another in a series of songs with lyrics about contracts/management/money, like 'Flick of the Wrist', Death on Two Legs' :)
