A question for nazila queena

Hardly ever we see Middle Eastern Queen fans, and that's a pretty cool thing.

My question to nazila queena (or anyone from middle east) is how popular are rock/pop acts from America and Europe in countries like Iran, and what are the favorite ones.

From what I've heard (and correct me if I'm wrong) pop/rock acts are not very promoted through the media in the middle east, but they have built a strong popularity through people who bring only one copy of a CD and make thousands of copies of it, and they sell pretty good.

Do most people in Iran know that Freddie has Persian roots in his family?

oh...yes Mr.jingles....
your think (or maybe other think )about people of iran is mistake.
we have boys & girls in iran that have wonderful understand from Rock or pop music.
but we are in limitation...(that i can't explane those limitation).we take cd/dvd/vcd from europe & american very very hard.
we forced to use copycd that can hear or see faviorate groop or singer.
we hate from this condition...but we can't do anything.
(you don't understand our difficult).
other countries in middle east have orginal cd.if we can go to that place ,we take orginal cd & we very happy to have orginal cd that try to do this.
you know QUEEN is famese in all of the world.
the lyrics & story of QUEEN & FREDDIE translate to persian, with photos from QUEEN in these books.
FREDDIE is belong to all countries ,not to iran or england or zanzibar!
cause his songs & strong lyrics effect in every part of the world.
FREDDIE is one of our glory.
we are proud of him.

i hope you get reply of your question .

Thanks for your response nazila queena! I totally appreciate it.

I know that there are no record companies in Iran that are willing to distribute western pop/rock artists, so I don't see anything wrong with someone making a living out of making copies of a CD or DVD that is not being legally distributed, so why not giving people in countries like Iran the chance to enjoy certain music or films.

On the other hand there are other third world countries from Latin America and South East Asia where the whole industry is in constant battle with the piracy industry. People in those countries earn very little money and every penny they get is essential to make a living. So I guess that's why they'd much rather buy a pirate CD that costs 2 dollars instead of one that costs 8.

Anyways, great to hear that people in Iran know that our Freddie is part of them and they're proud of that.

That is so awful to hear! Any recorded material should be available to anyone, anywhere (this is the mighty millennium, right?). Living in Nashville, TN (Music City USA), I could not fathom not being able to get the music I wanted. Music in all formats is so plentiful here -- it's a crime it's not the same where Nazila lives.

nazila queena, I think this all is so interesting. My best friend is from Iran, too, so I know a bit of the culture and life style there.
Her family knows a lot about Queen and Freddie, she also said that they're really proud of him although his sexuality and way of living isn't quite "acceptable" in Iran.

Now I've got another question, my friend (her name is Azar - you will know how this is pronounced) said that Alex from Germany is really popular in Iran (you will probably know who I mean - his song is called "Ich Will Nur Dich"). Is that true??? She was in Teheran in summer and said that she heard the song everywhere!

Eros Ramazotti happens to be extremely popular in Germany, and he has never sang in German.

unless,go to other countries.
i do this in last summer.
i go to turkey ,in Antalia city & buy a dvd of QUEEN(WEMBLEY 86)and pay 25 dollars!!!!!!
it's expensive !
but i didn't want to give up this opportunity,& i buy cd/dvd of QUEEN,GUNS N ROSES,NIRVANA,deep purple & cd of JOHN LENNON with pay almost 110 dollars!!!!!!

i wish that i go to turkey or Dubai again in future & buy dvds of QUEEN(oh this is incridible).

Just out of curiosity, suppose I want to send a CD or package to Iran, do you know if Canada Post or United Postal Service would allow these things to be sent to Iran? I'm just curious because I am not too sure what the restrictions rules are for my country of Canada and our neighbour to the south, U.S.A.

I'm asking, cos since you have no legal distributor, that maybe if there are some Queen albums you need, I can make you some cheap, if you want. Depends which album you don't have (I can't do full Made In Heaven because Track 13 is damaged, just so you know)

"Eros Ramazotti happens to be extremely popular in Germany, and he has never sang in German"

I think his "big time" is over. I don't know, I never really liked his songs. I never disliked them either. I just don't care about Eros. My mum had an album, it seemed alright but not my kind of music.
I don't think he has ever sung in German. But I might be the wrong person to ask....

nazila, weird you guys in Iran know Alex. He was in Big Brother here 4 years ago!!! No one ever talks about the guy anymore. I met him once when he performed at a club nearby. Even got an autograph, but I have no idea where it is...

In Iran you're not alowed to sell music publicly espacialy Westren for that case so thats why they refer to copied cd's 'cause of it's cheap price and they are easier to distribute...and also to point out that Iranians Do know Freddie and are aware of his Persian roots my bestfreind is from Iran his name is Hassan so when i asked him about Queen ofcourse that was a couple of years ago he told me yes they do know them and that they are so popular in iran.

hey Nazila that's why i was asking you if u were from Iran 'cause i wanted to talk with you about this u know :) and i know a bit of Parsi myself...about finding original Cd's u can always go to Dubai u know ;) or u can give me ur mail address and believe me i would be more than happy to send you those original cd's for free.

back to the subject Mr.jingles you were wondering how big is rock and pop here in the middle east well here in saudi and Daubai POP is pretty popular they actually have one of the biggest virgin records stores i've ever seen in Dubai, but on the other hand there is also a big number of rock fans...Rock music is becoming a major part of the youth around here these days i know a couple of my friends who just formed a rock band and they have some pretty good music.
that's enough about me, now, what do you think of me ?
