Roger Taylor letter to Rolling Stone magazine

Hey everybody......I'm back!

Just wondering when it was that Rog wrote that (in)famous letter to Rolling Stone and what the article was to provoke him.... any links would be appreciated.

Can't remember exactly, I think 80 or 81. They got a crappy reiview from RS by a person who only heard the soundcheck. Roger ripped him a new one! lol. You can read it on Trancers page. Oh, and he wrote in on an airsick bag....very appropriate. Here's the link to the letter.

i have the magazine and have never read anything like it. 2-3 page of the writer attacking the band, their live show and music.

Given that the original article was related to South America, and there is a reference to RT's current album, I'd go for Summer/Autumn 1981

Not surprising. If you read some of Rolling Stone's original reviews, they didn't seem to care much for Queen. Even the semi-positive ones take jabs. Many of them are available online:

Tell me, P_G, when was the last time you ever said anyhting helpful to anyone?

Other than "We already have a thread about this" or "Go find it for yourself".

The main thing I remember about the letter is that it was written on a sick bag. There's a copy in the Roger photo gallery on QZ.

Obligatory mention of the WWRY CD that was an exclusive for The Sun. Hard to enjoy this letter when you see the bigger picture.
