I think we've figured out what we're doing. Since Brian has to work until 6:30 or 7 on Saturday, I'm going to help my brother prepare a candlelit dinner for his wife (they've been married five months today). Then I'll go home and wait for Brian to pick me up, we'll go to the grocery store and buy supplies and make a candlelit dinner of our own. On Sunday he's taking me out to dinner to my favourite restaurant but we know better than to try it on Valentine's Day itself.

I hope everyone has a good day tomorrow regardless of whether you're going to celebrate love or not.

I'll comfort a friend of mine who just got dumped by her boyfriend (perfect timing, of course).

Otherwise, I won't do too much. I'm a Norwegian, and Valentine's Day is not a Norwegian tradition. Just like we did with Halloween, we adopted it from America. Next we'll celebrate Thanksgiving, I suppose.

A friend I talked to last night said he doesn't think Valentine's Day is too romantic anyway. What's romantic in doing what everyone else does? He'd rather do it the day before, he said, or some other day of the year, just to be a bit more original than doing it just that day when everyone feels they have to.

I always thought Valentine's Day was just a comercial way of getting money. But this day I got a huge card from someone whom I really like, so maybe this day is that special after all! :)
