I'm not a "fan" but they're good!

In the words of Ringo Starr, ELO split up because they ran out of Beatles songs to copy.

I can't say I've heard all of the Beatles' songs, nor ELO's, but the ones I have aren't even close to being similar.

I've never heard Fire On High, but I'll check it out! :)

I do think that a few of the early ELO songs sounded "Beatle-ish". After the first couple albums though, it seemed to diminish. But on the album "Zoom" that was released in 2001, I did hear a distinct nod to the Beatles again on a few songs. George Harrison once commented...that if the Beatles would have remained together as a band, they would have evolved to an ELO type sound.

That's kind of odd to think about..."BLO"?

"Last Train To London" is indeed ELO's and is included in the Discovery album (a fantastic album btw) :)

I personally think Zoom's great.

A few years ago, I was rehearsing with my band in a studio and for fun we started messing around with some old ELO numbers, after doing a passable version of Wild West Hero we sat about having a drink before starting on new material and who should walk in but the keyboard player for ELO back in the mid seventys, he had been listening upstairs in the control room.

Anyway after rather a lot of laughter and a suggestion we should pay him some royalties he went back upstairs, seems he never thought he'd hear anyone playing their stuff these days and felt really good hearing it, we asked him if he wanted to play along but sadly he declined, I feel he was being rather kind about our version, but nevertheless it was one of those one in a million chances that we laughed about for months
