Anyone got a decent quality mp3 of the Back Chat single version. I can't seem to rip it from the DVD. Probably something to do with it being 5.1

Thanks for the heads-up for yor site. Interesting stuff. But I was asking if anyone would be able to give me an mp3 of Back Chat 7" for free. No trade or anything like that cos the way I see it I'm not trying to get it for free as I bought the DVD. Its just my stupid computer won't let me rip the audio.

Thanks to anyone who replies.

Here's a copy at 320 kbps. It's recorded from DVD via analog cables. About 9.5 MB

I usually compress my wavs to 128kb mp3 files, but I must say that this 320kb file sounds perfect. (= better!)

Thanks :) I used to think 128 was fine, but once I got a CD burner and started listening to the files through the big sound system, I realized how bad they sounded in most cases. The compression tends to make them sound very 'swishy'. It depends on the type of song.

I generally use 192 now, which always seems to sound nice and clean. 160 has always sounded muddy to me, with 128 sounding better in most cases, which is odd.

Anyway, since I had the space I figured I'd keep it as high quality as possible.

I just added another webspace account, which I didn't realize I could do before. I get 10 MB in each. This is about the maximum length of song I can do at 320 though, so I'll probably stick with 192 from now on.

Well, in future I'll take better care of mp3's I make myself! :-)
I recently compressed all the studio-tracks to make a one-cd with all the tracks (and b-sides etc). This was done for someone who has all the Queenstudio albums himself btw. I know cd's like these exist or the tracks are available somewhere (all Queen in mp3). I'm gonna make one for myself as well, but I will do that using the Japanese cardboard-cd's (already ordered the first batch). I'm curious how they'll sound.

Nice job Deaconfan.. I didn't even realize that the video used the remix version until now... funny as I have seen the video plenty of times now.

As a side note, I like the remix version better than the album version...

I haven't taken the time to compare versions thoroughly but I don't personally hear any 'mix' differences.. rather it just sounds like an edit to me. I can't speak for the 5.1 mix since I can't hear that one, only the PCM track.

Its definately a different mix. Everything sounds cleaner and crisper. Excess instrumental stuff is edited out and the song flows a lot better. The "Hot Space" version is inferior, sounding quite murky in places.

"The compression tends to make them sound very 'swishy'"

I tend to think more of it as a wet sound, also depending on the song. And I agree that it is odd too that 160 sounds muddy while 128 is fine. I've had that happen before myself.
