Just a question: I've been wondering about the possibility of yet another (US release?) Greatest Hits compilation, maybe this time a "Queen Love Songs" CD. This was a topic of discussion a few years ago. Is there any chance something like this may see the light of day in the near future?
Or maybe a "Collection of Solo Hits" featuring Freddie, Brian, Roger and John's offerings. It would be nice for the newer fans who don't have every album/CD and want to sample some of the solo efforts before buying one they like in particular. Any comments??

Dear God, no.
There's been enough GH releases, with the Box Set becoming yet a figment of my imagination. The last thing Queen needs is another marketing gimmick.

If I see "Queen Love Songs" or "Queen Ballads"- I'll puke...

I would certainly rather see a box set released first, but since Hollywood probably won't release those in full anyway, I guess it doesn't matter :-P
There was discussion of a 'ballads' disc over at QOL not long ago and a surprising number of people thought it was a good idea.

Here are my suggestions:
- Greatest Hits 4
- 20 Golden Queen Ballads
- The Most Underrated Queen Jewels vol 1-4
- Greatest Hits 1-4 box Christmas edition (contains bonus track "Thank God It's Payday")
- The Best Of The Rest - Double CD
- The Trash Bin - Songs Never Released On a Compilation

Boxsets should be next. If someone wants to test the band without buying the entire catalogue, there are the pink GH, the Platinum Collection (Which sells for less than the double disc gold sets!), and Classic Queen. All of which are available in the US.

Popular opinion rules I suppose! I could retch at each retread that is put out as Queen material -- then again I have at each Beatles "hits" compilations (i.e. Love Songs, Rock and Roll Music, 1962-67, 1967-70, Rarities, etc). Bad thing is, I still collect all on vinyl AND CD...how naughty is that? ;-)
Anyone know if The Platinum Collection saw a vinyl release? The last Queen vinyl (UK) I bought was Rocks in 1997. I have the original GH 1, 2 and 3 on UK vinyl.

Marketing Queen in the US is getting downright mysterious. At Breakthru 2001, Charlie D'Atri had us scribble down suggestions for Queen Rocks 2. Great idea for a compilation, horrible on the execution. We're still waiting Charlie, and I'm not holding my breath.
Likewise, I've bought 4 (FOUR!) copies of GVH 2 and each and every copy has had tracks 4 & 11 obscured on Disc 1 and the first three tracks of Disc 2 obscured due to encoding errors. Good thing I've got a nice collection of receipts to keep on trading in these faulty DVDs.

How can you make a Greatest Hits of Roger, Freddie and Brian if between the three of them they only make like 5 hits or less?
It'd be a Greatest Hits EP then

It's been mentioned numerous times here recently....GH 3 came out after 'Rocks'. I thought you didn't have it from previous posts.
My mistake.
I don't think a 6 LP set would work too well at this time
I want a solo 'best of' double vinyl set, with MIH Track 13....the extended version' as the bonus disc (thanks for that one, Javier).
Limited Japanese blue vinyl 24K gold with a PVC holographic tearaway sleeve would be pretty cool.

And I'll throw in my (possibly annoying) $.02 again for a '70s FM Hits CD: the album tracks that got played on U.S. rock stations in the '70s and actually made Queen famous ("Death On Two Legs", "'39", "Get Down Make Love", etc.), rather than the tamer "Greatest Hits" that got played on Top 40 stations.
