i personally don't like much of his 70ie stuff, but like his macho image from the early to mid 80ies!!
cause I like The Works and Mr. Bad Guy i love 1983, but think 1990 was fantastic, too.

Lyrically he was a legend! 70s was his greatest I think, His musical poems about Jealousy, Dreamers ball, white man and so on was great.
Now that I am over and done with the "pop Queen" era I started more to aprecciate the "Indie Queen" I call it,, or the indipendant Queen, the greats that was neva heard by the light weight masses.
Now the eighties contains alot of "Pop Queen vibes" where the early nineties was toned down alot to give that dramatic comeback again, so was the seventies. Real hot rock! To me eighties was the sell out Queen Era.... not meaning they are bad cos its what made them get the biggest prizes from those light weights.

really???
i think his 70's lyrics are much better than his 80's work, and i think many are with me on that

As far as I know, White Man and Dreamer's Ball are Brian's. About lyrics I don't really care. Musically I think his best era is the 1987-1990 one (Innuendo, Hitman, Was It All Worth It, Bijou, All God's People, The Miracle and the Barcelona album)

Sebastian well remembered, theres me going off about Queen in general and not Fred lol!!
Yeah in that case Freddie rules in the 80s and 90s with his legendary range he put on his vocals.
In my defence, Friends w. b. Friends, Inuendo etc all rocks!
But I still think Writing wise he was better in the 70's where in the Eighties apart from hot space, opera vibe and inuendo He seemed copromised to whats goin musically on in the eighties. such as Mr bad guy original and man made paradise original. Rock and roll at the time he was rcording it but it flopped once it was out..
if the lyrical work was macth with a grander sounding ensemble it would get the greatest recognition it deserves
oh well History..... in the end it brings back Jealousy lol! hehe!

I love Freddie's songs most in the 70s--his imagination and creativity really flowed. But, the depth of his talents and emotions shone through during Barcelona as well. He was just a true genius!

agreed Malina :) I like all his work, just pure genius

i think his 70ies lyrics were more innovative, but he wasn't such a good lyricist IMO. ok, better than the assholes that write britney spears lyrics, but for example compared with bob marley or John Lennon his lyrics were childish.

Definately the 70's. I like all his work, but that's what drew me into Queen.

70s for me, The first 3 albums are still classics, also like Freddie voice on Innuendo.

> Oh and by the way Innuendo is one of Roger's
Just the lyrics. The music is Freddie's. Roger could never write something like that in a million years. In fact the lyrics are Freddie and Roger, more Roger, but still both of them.
