BRIAN and Dave Gilmour

In KEN DEAN's book (Wembley Memorial Edition) on page 98 there is a photo of Brian and Gilmour in the studio...

Did they record anything together...? Was it released? Do you know anything about this collaboration...?

They played on the 'The Stonk' together as well, which was another charity record. Both of them are in the video, as is Roger, freddie gets a thank you on the record sleeve.

wrong. The photo is from Smoke on The Water for the Rock Aid Armenia charity Single. It was a whole lot of Heavy Rock stars re recording the old Deep Purple classic for Earthquake victims in Armenia. I have the 122 version, its great but not seen it on CD. Brian May, Tony Iommi, Ritchie Blackmore, Alex Lifeson from Rush and Dave Gilmour played Guitars. Roger Taylor Played drums, Bryan Adams, Bruce Dickinson, Ian Gillan, Paul Rogers did vocals, I think it was around 1990.

Excuse me, but, wasn't that what Barry had said? By the way, you wouldn't bet how lucky I was. I found the CD of Rock Aid Armenia in the middle of a bow full of CDs in a sale. I would say it cost me about US$3,00 at the most :)

Yay we are talkin about the guitarists from the best two bands of all time now (well okay there was something called the Beatles too I guess :)

I'm surprised Gilmour isn't scheduled to play at the Crossroads concert as well...getting to see Brian and David Gilmour at the same show would just be too perfect.

It's good to see Brian and David Gilmour togheter.In my personal podium,Brian is my favourite guitarist,followed by the incomparable Jimi Hendrix which invented the modern electic guitar and then David Gilmour which with just one note brings you to another world.

OK..."NO-ONE BUT YOU 1975" said that he saw Brian and Eric Clapton at Crossroads...I was there and I hate to break it to you pal but you couldn't have been there...Brian was the main reason I purchased the tickets and flew from Albany,NY to Dallas as a Birthday Present to myself...I believe it was in Late April/Early May...(Don't quote me on this...I'm probably wrong about when). But I remember reading on his website that due to commitments with the musical and the timing of it all...He was very dissapointed that he couldn't make it and apologized to everybody that was planning to attend. I was pretty pissed off...My first and only real chance to see Brian May, or any member of Queen for that matter and its royally fucked (no-pun intended) cause of that blasted musical...Don't shoot me I'm not trashing WWRY the Musical or anything, I was pissed about it. Well anyways I went...and tried to make the best of things. When I showed up, Steve Vai had just hit the smaller secondary stage as the opening act. Later on, I saw a guy that was tall, thin, and had long curly hair and he was playing jazz fusion...and I was like "NO FUCKING WAY, THAT CAN'T BE BRIAN MAY...HE BLUFFED US ALL!!" but then I checked the programme and saw his face it wasn't Brian May, it was PAT METHANY...he was ok...nothing that I personally connected with...but he was a very skilled axeman. But looking back on that... I went into the Guitar Center Village...and because Brian May backed out they didn't have anything relating to a product that was endorsed by the Guvnor himself, except for the VOX 15-WATT Brian May Special Practice Amp...and I took a '52 Tele Reissue and used the BM Special as a Pre-Amp for a Marshall Stack!! That was fucking incredible! Beautiful Crisp sounds...and I picked the first minute of "Now I'm Here" "Tie Your Mother Down" and the first solo from "Bohemian Rhapsody" and looked up while I was playing, and I had an audience of the main guitarist from the legendary industrial metal band Ministry! Dammit all...if only Brian May was there still doing his gig!!! He would've really brought the house down...Oh well...Unfortunately he never played there...
