Brighton Rock by Guitar Hero is absolutely impressive!! Congratulations. How did you record it?
Basically blind em and deaf em in the first 10 minutes, and while they are recovering from that put in the less good songs

Yeah, that was excellent work there! My only advice would be to tame the high-end of the sound. The top was too high. Cut 2db of 3kHz and 3db of 12kHz. This only applies for when you record the sound cause I'm not going to tell you to change how you put it through your amp etc. Apart from that, it was most excellent!

Peace,
Adam.

Thanks all for your kind words. :)

I recorded it with ProTools and a half decent mic. It has a digital delay option, so I set one channel to 0.7 seconds, and the other to 1.4 seconds. Worked like a charm.

The playing itself was done in one take. There are a few things in there I would like to have done a bit cleaner, but I see it as being raw, honest, and just me doing my best to emulate Brian May for four and half minutes.

Glad you all liked it. I've considered EQing it as Adam has pointed out, so maybe I will do that one day. Thanks for the advice.

Bob, well done! You live up to your nickname, do you play in a band? If so where and when do you play?

That's a cool idea Richard! :D

Thanks BB. :)

I'm actually not in a band right now. Finding the right musicians has been a near impossible task for me. I'm very influenced by classical music, rock, and progressive rock, and my goal is to find musicians at a similar level who are willing to create great music with those tools. I've found a bassist, and now it's time for a drummer, vocalist, and keyboardist.

As for me calling myself "Guitar Hero"... I don't consider myself as a hero of any kind. I just play what I love to play; "make my noise", as BHM puts it. Those who know me best know that I see myself as being far from a hero, and so the name is really a condradiction. I'm a guy of paradoxes at times, and this is no different. :)

I am definitely in favour of Richard's cd idea, but I would like to ensure an EQ'd version of my piece would be the one to make the final cut.

Awesome work Guitar Hero. You make honour to your nickname
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

Thanks, Sebastian! You folks are too good to me.

Adam, I said I'd try EQing the wave file "one day", but I got too curious and had to do it tonight! It turned out great. I'll be sure to send this version to Richard when he compiles the cd. Again, thanks for the advice. :)

Any chance of putting videos on this site? I made a special edit of the "No One But You" video last November for World AIDS Day that has more Freddie footage...it's about 45 megs though.

(It's floating around the hub, or people can download it from me on there under the name "emeraldbar".)
