If I may jump in here... I believe the original version of that album had the vocals sped up and Billy wasn't pleased with it.. I don't know if they've corrected it but that may be why you like the other better :)

As I recall from having illegally downloaded a ton of Billy Joel songs to make my 2-disc compilation.. the original just sounded awful so I stuck with the early 80s version..

I like both because they almost seem like they're from different worlds! One is a young Billy, The other, slightly older. Ask anyone who knows me, And they will tell you that it is a favorite song of mine! I was actually playing it on an electric grand piano at Sam's Club about an hour ago! LOL!
